Or put a sock over the shifter before you leave your car.

it should, but I just want to make sure before saying that it will work. Most Honda/Acura vehicles use a 10mm coarse thread for the MT and 8mm for AT.

SilverCL97 is close to my office so we'll test it out on his car.

We'll work something out.

Have you taken apart your shift knob/boot assembly before? I don't have a service manual for your car so I really don't know what we're getting into. I've just seen pictures of other people's short shifter installs.

its easy, you just pull, pop the plastic ring off and unscrew the knob. Getting the acutal boot off is tricky, but I dont think you'll need to do that for this project

Why can't we get a nice shift knob for the automatics? I think that would be a nice idea...although the interest may not be that great, we do share the same knob as the V6 Accords, so a deal with v6performance.net could be arranged.

All I know is that I'd be down for a shift knob for my 3.0.

why not? we have lots of 3.0'ers that only have AT. they can't be any different than other AT's

either way, we still have faster cars

The only problem with the AT in the 3.0 is that it has the push button shift lock instead of the gate that the newer Acuras have. It would be prohibitively expensive to develop a CNC machined knob with the push button design.

The MT knob took seven complete revisions to come up with the design you see on the main page. Each time the design had to be rendered in CAD, then a CNC program had to be made, and hours spent running it on a lathe that costs a dollar a minute to run. And that knob is only one piece! There are several components that would need to be designed/fabricated/assembled for the 3.0 AT.

If you guys wanted to drop $150-$200 on a knob then I'd be happy to help.

I'd drop the cash if it looks similar to that of a 2nd gen CL.
