Accident and Estimate on the CL

So the other day, im driving home from school. Light turns green and im doing about 20mph. Im dead even with the kid next to me. He starts to come over into my lane. So I was just thinking he would swirve right back into his lane. But no. He kept coming over. I didnt want to swirve to the left since I would have hit oncoming traffic. He didnt even look in his mirror. He just came over like no one was in the lane. The first thing i see when he hits me if my mirror fly off . It was sort of funny at first. We pulled into a nearby gas station and I got out and looked at the damage . The passenger side was pretty messed up. Damage over both wheels, bumper and door. Not to mention the mirror hanging off and center cap of the wheel somewhere in the road. We didnt call the cops since I knew the kid and I knew we could just settle it without the cops. I went to get an estimate yestterday....$2500 worth of damage. That kids paying out of his pocket too
I wanted to just drop kick him in the face. Im not going to be able to drive the car for at least a week.
drivers these days
Ill post some pics a little later

and i would def have called the cops. Now when this kid says he isnt paying for shit he doesnt have to. There is no statement so if he doesnt pay you anc you call the cops they are going to say you shoud have called the us (cops) and you will be left with 2500 worth of CL damage.

Damn, just make sure he doesn't screw you, since you have no police report. Also, a money order is a good way to do it or cashier's check, since it comes right from the bank.

Yeah man at your age you should always call the cops, and a 17 yr old calling another kid a noob driver is pretty funny. Good luck with the fix and definately get cash, money order, or certified check.

yeah i guess i shouldnt be calling other people noobs, since I am one. I did use the horn, but i guess his reaction time is pretty awful since he kept coming into me. I talked to him today. Hes in my school so if he doesnt pay, but I know he will, ill have to lay the smackdown on him. But I know for a fact he will pay. Not calling the cops was a bad idea, but it was my first time in an accident and hopefully the last so I wasnt sure what to do. His dad also came and looked at it at my house. So i know he will pay for it. And I can barely drive it since the wheel hits the wheel well all the time. Here at the pics

make sure you get a copy of the estimate and don't take the car out of the shop until you are satisfied with the work. Make them replace the fender, lights, front bumper , and make sure there isn't any chips in the hood. Good luck..1st accidents are nerve racking, I got owned on mine by a hot chick that gave me the wrong phone number and I didnt call the cops.

Yup, im getting it done at a dealership where both my parents have had ther cars worked on. The shop does awesome work. I just cant wait to get it back with no damage to it. I feel like one of those civic owners who have a riced out car, but have the most damage to it.

Up here where I live they won't fix anything more than $1000 worth of damage at any shop without a damage sticker from the police. It sounds like you won't get screwed over by the kid, but don't laugh and call him a noob. Treat him with as much respect as you would want to be treated with in his situation. Karma will come back to bite you in ass if you don't.
It looks like you won't have to replace the door, which is definately a money saver. Is it just the fender and mirror, or do you have to replace the bumper as well?

Unless that bumper is cracked, they won't replace it. They will simply re-paint it and mount it with new hardware. The damage isn't that bad, though that mirror looks the worst of all of it. Good luck and down't get owned.

Yeah Blenz, I was cool as hell about it when it happened. I didnt flip out or anything. It was quite amusing since I knew he was going to pay for it and everything would be resolved. I dont think they are putting on a new bumper. Just mirror, wheel, fender and thats it i think. And then taking out the rest of the dents and painting the whole side.

I was in your position. Dude hit me, never filed a report. You think I got anything from the guy? NO. Do i know where he lives? Nope. I sure looked out for him. I went to every address with his last name and waited to send him to the hospital. The fucker either didn't come out or I just didn't look at the right places.
2 tips of advice
-always get a police report because its the cops word against the party
-you can still get a police report just make sure they see both cars so they can state that they feel that the guy hit you. This way if he doesn't pay, you have alternate methods then a bat to obtaining your money.
