FYI: I?ve noticed if you don?t go in to those high RPMs you'll get way better gas mileage

I just drove 350 miles with myself, 2 adults and my 9 year old son in our '98 2.3CL 5sp at an average of 72MPH over very hilly terrain and long steep grades on I91 & I89... never had to shift out of 5th gear ( that impressed me - lotta torque in that little 4 banger).
I checked the mileage after getting back home and it was almost dead-on 32MPG. By myself and communting over mountains at about 55MPH, I get 34-35MPG. I like to get on it once and awhile but generally only use the power as necessary... passing on 2 lane roads, etc.
My car has about 57K on the clock and I have not done a thing to it since purchase last year except change oil and air filter. I really enjoy driving my Acura and hope to at least double the miles to 150k (my last car, 1990 Maxima went 182K before I sold it).

i get about 300-320 miles and then i have to fill up, its too expensive out here, 87, which i shouldnt be running cause of my vafc controller i need 92 or the highest. but i run 87 and an octane boost since the iraqi crisis and it runs decently but i can tell i need to run 92, my engine runs so much better with 92

If you are getting that bad of gas mileage...its
1) Your driving style...i've seen 16mpg on my CLS revving and racing around the City.
2)You might have a bad O2 sensor that is richening the fuel supply
3)Your fuel pressure regulator might be broken.
4)Your fuel filter may need cleaning.
5)Air filter may need cleaning.
6)Oil change may be in order
7)New Sparkplugs, wires, cap and rotor (ie. tune-up)
There may be a few other things... Also, running 38psi in your tires will trade a little grip for less rolling resistance which equals better mpg.
