Mine sounds kind of like a small diesel when its cold. A valve alignment has helped a lot in the past. If its really loud I would check for an exhaust leak.

Look for a carbon build up from the headers back to the exhaust. If you dont want to do this take it to a exhaust shop and they should be able to spot it pretty easialy.

Mine is noiser at 69,000 miles, than when it was new but not overwhelmingly noisy. Its mosly druring cold weather. I probably could use a valve adjustment but I'm a stickler for using the dealer for detailed engine work & I know they will gouge me on the price.

sounds like valves to me -I noticed you live in Canada, do you drive it hard when the engine is still cold? that can do some serious damage to your valves.

I think the valve adjustment is about $120(U.S.) at the dealer for the 4 cyl about $180 for the 6cyl

noisy cl 2.3

The dealership changed my motor at 60k. they ajusted valves several times change timing belts , idlers you name it. I have over a hundred Kilos on it now . Performs well so i live with it, I will never buy another accura , 4cyl. My co worker has an accord 2.3 no noise problem.

right, Which means it has nothing to do with acura in general. its just a lemon. youl will occasionally have the same problems with lots of other known good cars.
