97 steering wheel removal help

Got stuck removing the steering wheel in my 97, I read the entire DIY guide but it is for the 98-99 and I can't figure out how to get the right hand side cruise control buttons off the wheel, so that I can remove the right hand side Torx screx for the air bag. Anyone have any clue how that thing comes off? I've more or less tried everything that I can think of at this point....

It's usually on there really well...... try putting small screwdriver under the cover below the set button and above the resume. Pry them away from the buttons then away from the steering wheel.

did it make turns correctly before? if so, and nothing changed with the steering wheel, I would point to something else

If you couldnt turn very far left before the new steering wheels was put on it might be wise to go get an alignment check. If your caster is out enough on your left side it will effect you being able to turn so far. Plus it's always good maintenance to get an alignment lol.
