My brother told me that he saw some news on TV about Acura recalling the 97-99 CL and 99 TL. Have any of u guys heard anything about that or is my bro just f**king around? Does anyone know? Thanks

 

yes they were recalled. search around the forum...it's buried by now

 

If you go to Acura.com they have a place where you can register your car using the VIN number and it will tell you if your car was affected, it wasn't all of them mine was ok.

 

I enterd my vin and it said not found...is my car not recalled or my vin 'doesn't exist'?

I just checked my car out and it is part of the recall. I think Acura did a poor job to notify us. Thanks to acura-cl board, otherwise most of us would probably have never found out.

just thought i'd ask you guys since this topic is available.

my gf's first gen is listed as part of the recall on acura's website.

when i mentioned it to the dealership, they said we had to wait for the official letter from acura stating the recall, before we can make an appt. for the repair.

it's been how long now?
we have not received any letter.

is anyone still waiting like us?

why are the dealerships making such a big deal out of waiting for this damn letter?????

 

They said the recall only affected a handful of CL's, it is mainly a RL problem. The Acura website was supposedly giving out false information. My dealer also said I have to wait for this Recall letter.

Whats up with that?

 

The letter will be sent out when Honda releases the parts.. figure around mid to late August!!!! Its not a major recall, in fact its only a precaution to change this part so sit back and relax!

Yeah I also entered my vin 5 or 6 times and triple checked it to make sure and the site said it didnt recognize my vin number.

Yep, I got my letter from Acura last week and brought it in and they changed the parts.
