9006 headlight bulb

Its been awhile since i replaced my headlights with a set of PIAA's (superwhite I think.) They lasted 2 years and 4 months. They were $70 I think, but worth it. One burned out so I put in a regular bulb till a get new ones. Anything better on the market now? I don't wanna spend the $$ on HID so im just looking for some good 9006's. I've had silver stars in the past. They look good but didn't last more than about 4 months. Are the silver star ultra's any better? I've seen on e-bay some Bosch and PIAA's that have Japanese writing all over the packaging. The claim is that they are 4700k (v.s. 4000k for most U.S. bulbs) and that they are not sold in the U.S. and basicaly are better and brighter. Is this true? Or just a scam? So i guess my question is... who has the best bulbs and where can i get them?!?! Thanks ya'll

I like my NOKYA 6500K Arctic Whites.
They have lasted almost two years.
As for 4 months, you gotta be careful not to touch the tube. Oils from your skin will boil on the glass and cause it to crack.

ya, i was carefull not to touch them, i wear rubber gloves too just incase. those bulbs are too expensive to be careless. i've been reading peoples comments on the silver stars... seems like everyone says they don't last longer than about 6 months. that sucks.

^^What HID kit did you go with. I'm looking at K levels between 5500-6500. That greyish blue color is hot. I don't like the pink or purple ones.. they just look wierd to me.

i noticed alot of the nokya bulbs are 80 watts the piaa's i had are 51 watts. 80watts sounds high, any problems with those running so high?

No, in fact, if you use the 100W NOKYA bulbs, you run the risk of melting the housing. 80s are a perfect fit... However, they are not BRIGHT like silverstars. They do cut glare and they brighten signs very well.

nokyas are great. The no name ebay hyperwhites are hit or miss. When i had mine before HID's they lasted me years. My friend bought some and hers blew out in a month. I gave her my old ones and theyre still going strong

Bullshit, they're just bright white man, they're aimed at the roads

Nokya's don't output light for shit, driving at night/dusk is HORRIBLE and you can't see anything

4000K

Oh and they're legal in all 50 states, I couldn't pass inspection with those shitty nokya's either, and I had 2 sets

You really hate the NOKYA bulbs and the inspection guys. Ahh the woes of modified cars. I like my NOKYAs, but I do want brighter lights. Not fond of the dimness at dusk.

That's what killed them for me, they look great, but they suck as headlights. The cool blues are sick they look like hids, and are bright white. Also are stock spec just brighter, I'm a strong believer in them. Course I'm moving to hid's on both vehicles, but hey

If it costs 70 and you need a replacement, you should just go HIDs. Right now, I'm on a 9005 conversion, but I wanna wait til I get a new car before I do any serious modding.

noyka vs 6k kaixen hid

hid's are still one of my fav mods.well worth it to me.the noyka lasted a decent time(still going when i replaced with hid's)looked good, but as stated the don't have the desired output.run a higher output and risk melting housing.....

i have the sylvania silverstar ultras, and they are bright as hell. They've lasted me for about 8 months and still going strong. The regular silverstars sucked big time. They would blow after 6-7 months

This might be a bit off topic but what do you guys think of the hid kits sold for like $130 shipped on ebizzle? Would it be better off to go with a name brand instead of the cheaper ones?

9005 conversion...good light output, good light temperature(depending on what you get/prefer) and so cheap, plus getting flashed constanly, unfortunately only by oncoming cars and not by girls, that only happens friday/saturday when we're leaving the bar...goddam i love my life
