60k scheduled maint raping
Dealer quoted me $1300 for the 60k mile scheduled service. The big ticket items are to replace the timing belt and water pump. That's just not going to happen. Are they trying to rape me or is this necessary and is $1300 a reasonable amount? I do see that those items are listed on their maintance schedule.

why do you guys continue to go to dealers, they suck ass....and for the most part they suck ass......go to a diff place, they'll do it for about 400-700. I only paid 400 for my shit and got my UR pullies installed with it. Damn people, shop around, or start getting connects.....

I think 60k miles is too early to change your timing belt.
My 60k checkup cost about $500+ from the dealer...a chunk of that was towards the purchase of a new battery with them installing it.
Looking over the bill, you do get raped on labor at the dealer.
The fluids and parts replaced were very minimal in price.

Forget the timing belt and water pump for now. That's just the dealer trying to get more done to you car than needed at this time. The timing belt shouldn't need replacing until 90-100K and the water pump goes with that because of the location in relation to the timing belt (you pay for the same labor).
Also, you should simply get the details of the service and get it performed somewhere else you can trust that will do it for less. There is no specific reason why you should take it to the dealer.

I think these were the items listed for my 60,000 mi. service:
All new fluids
new fuel filter
new plugs
new EGR valve
radiator flush
checks on brakes/hoses/belts
tire rotation
alignment
oil change
(labor alone was $315 for 4 1/2hrs scheduled service)

thanks for the replies... I honestly think it's part of an Acura conspiracy...
around 60k miles people start thinking about a new car, through in a $1,300 service and that may be enough motivation for someone to buy something new.
I will discuss this with the local honda shop (non dealer) to see what they say.

At 60K I'm thinking... "What do I need to do to get ANOTHER 60K out of the beast?". Maintenance is important but you shouldn't have to overpay - look for other sources - there is nothing magical about working on a CL.
