3 quick noobie questions!!

quick questions:

1) was planning to buy a 2.2 short ram intake off of ebay...but before I go and check it out (cuz shipping is so damn expensive ), anyone here have hook ups for intakes? *btw, im just gonna buy a no brand name...just double checking...a 97 accord 4 cylinder will fit right?

2)...if i buy an intake and by a k&n filter...is that filter that cylinder thing at the end of the intake? or is the k&n filter somethign completely different?

3)what are the benefits and drawback for an intake? hopefully better gas mileage?

^gonna get a tune-up for my car as well....planning to do this my xmas break. haha

1. you most likely wont find a cheaper place that ebay, cmon theres some on there for like <$40. and yes, its for a 4cyl 94-97 accord.

2. lol, the filter is the cone shaped "thing" at the end. K&N is just a certain company that makes filters.

3. benefits are more power (duh), better gas mileage, looks cool when you pop your hood, sounds cool when you hit VTAK yo. drawbacks are that it cant cook a nice medium rare steak for shit.

theres different size intakes. make sure the outlet on the filter is the same size as the inlet on the intake.

Don't get your intake from Procarparts! They screwed me over. First time they sent me the intake but with out the coupler, so I told them about it and the nimrods sent me a pair of 86-89 Accord clear corners (that I will just have to sell now). Don't mean to thread jack here but what size coupler do I need exactly for a 3.0? The intake is a 3" opening.

mine's a 2.2.

so this is what i have decided. please put in suggestions if this isn't right.

1) imma buy the SQUARE k&n filter, and replace my stock one with it. then imma go to ebay and buy the cheapest intake i can find and put that in as well.

^thats my plan. Huy also told me that i can:

2) get a regular air filter, buy the cheaper ebay intake and change the cone thingy from the ebay one to a k&n one.

WHICH is a better idea. #1 or #2?

One) Ebay intakes...uber cheap.

Two) All intakes come with different sizes. You can get K&N, but there are other makers for filters. The most expensive is not nesessaraly the best one. Cold air intake is the best though, cold air intake is sucking outside ambient air and not engine temp air like a SRI does.

Three) All benies, better gas mileage, looks cool, blah blah blah blah blah...

Haven't you done a search for intakes on AZine? lol

1) You want to do a drop in K&N air filter, yet buy ebay intake? That makes no sense.

2) Just buy a ebay cold air intake and get a decent cone filter.

You got it all wrong man...

I said that you either get the rectangular (drop-in) K&N filter OR

get an eBay tube and replace the cone filter with one from K&N...
