3.0's help me here

Ok I must start by saying that I owe you all the biggest gratitude. I have a 1997 3.0 Premium Cl. I have been looking everywhere for someone who knows about my car but I have been last. Until a couple days ago I went on my mechanical knowledge that a 1998 Accord V6 is similar to our cars. I figured that a CAI would fit in my car (I am thinking AEM/Injen what is your thoughts) and maybe a single cat back exhaust (Apex-i World Sport) would fit also. I respect you guys and maybe think that you can help mold my car from your experience. If you have any tips or ideas I would apprechiate it. Also where are the cheapest companys to buy from. Currently I have a custom sound system with (yeah I kept my BOSE speakers im not that dumb) two 12" Autotek Competition subs, 1 farad Stinger capacitor, 750 watt MTX amp, spoiler, racing pedals, Momo shift knob.
You can either post or email me at LuckyAx2@aol.com.

My ideas are as follows:
-AEM/Injen full CAI ($219 @ optionsauto.com)
-Apex-i World Sport exhaust ($410 @ ardperformance.com)
-17" Konig GTR wrapped in toyo tires ($799 treadepot.com)
{By the way whats the whole thing with the speedometer?}
-5" Autometer tachometer ($109 @ optionsauto.com)
-AEM adjustable cam gears

IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER IDEAS I WOULD LOVE TO HERE THEM! THANKS FOR KEEPIN THIS WEB PAGE ALIVE!!

Aaron

First off welcome to the board. Your gonna need an Intake from a 98 and up accord V6... or you can find them on ebay for the 3.0 from pro car parts for really cheap (generic, but good). Exhaust you will have to go with 94-97 accord (v6 if possible) I am not positive if they are a direct bolt on, but I would imagine so. Most people here seem to opt for a universal muffler with custom piping.

In my opinion, DO NOT put that 5" tach in your car... its too ricey for a CL.

Also... I dunno if you can get AEM cam gears for the 3.0.

Ok here is what I found :
AEM 98+ Honda Accord V6 EX/LX Cold Air Intake (2 pc) for $199.00
AEM 98+ Shortram for 139.73

Also why is it that exhaust for a 1997 Cl be for the 94-97 accord instead of the 98+ accord V6?
thanks

Heres how I remember which parts fit our cars........most of the shit under your hood is from the 98+ V6 Accord. Everything else such as exhaust, shcoks, springs, etc etc......are from the 94-97 Accord............Our engine is the same at the 98+ V6 but our chassis is the same as the 94-97 Accords. (Most)

The '98+ accord exhaust for the v6 is a dual exhaust while a 3.0 CL only has a single exhaust. Your best bet is to buy any muffler of your choice and take it to a muffler shop have them make custom piping for under $150.

'98+ accord CAI is a perfect fit.

And why would you want to get an autometer tach if you have an automatic transmission????

Buy my AEM CAI!

I'm selling my CAI for 150 bucks shipped, it's red with grey\silver AEM lettering. Save yourself some money on this great mod.

Isn't our stock piping already 2.5 in.? I thought I read that somewhere........If that's correct, then you might as well get a custom exhaust because the Greddy exhaust for a 95-97 V6 has 2.5in. piping and then there would be no point.

For the people have have custom piping - what piping diameter did you get

Can someone correct me on this.....? Thanks.

The stock piping is no where near 2.5 inches. I got custom 2 1/4 inch piping and it looks huge compared to the stock pipes. If you have a 4 cylinder CL you really shouldn't get more than 2 1/4 piping becuase you will lose back pressure.

I think we're talking about 3.0's on this thread

quote from: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...ht=3.0+exhaust

"i went to a muffler shop and jus had piping made with a universal muffler. that is our only option anyways i do believe. i don't know any companys that make an exhaust for our cars. most of our piping is 2.5" already so all you need to have the muffler shop do is replace some of the piping. there is just 2 small sections where acura reduced the piping to 2.25" for quietness. leave the rest of the piping as is. a shop sould charge around 40 to do the piping plus whatever you pay for the muffler. don't go any bigger than 2.5" because you'll lose power, unless you plan on running a turbo, then thats different. as far as a gain, i think you'll notice a difference. the stock muffler is really restrictive (heavy too), i'll think you'll see a difference. i'll post a pic tommorrow of my muffler, i like it a lot. e-mail me and i can get an exhaust made for you and ship you a new exhaust like mine for a little over 200 (not sure exactly). jacobzking@aol.com"
