What do you all average highway and city?

I have a 280 mile weekend commute, and its all highway so im hoping to get high 20s maybe 30 mpg?

Since it's winter, I get around 18-19 MPG. A lot of that is highway, but there's some mixed driving in there too.

I don't think my car is the standard though. I get terrible mileage in the winter because of the additives in the fuel they put in. I have to use Hess gas around here, if I go anywhere else it's worse and I have to use 89. During the summer w/ my intake I get around 250 miles on a tank (fill up at the 1/4 mark). Right now I'm stretching to get 200 at the 1/4 mark.

Edit: The highway I use daily is 55, then drops to 45 between traffic lights, and finally back up to 55. If there's no traffic and I don't hit the lights, I'm usually around 55-65 all the way through.

I should also note I'm not usually light on the pedal.

I used to get around 400 miles per tank, but that was back when my plugs, wires, intake, and all were new, but I'd still probably average around 350 or so if i had to guess

Yes, it is a 17 gallon tank. I usually put 10-11 in.

Damn, that's really good. When I had my 3.0, I was only getting around 270. But Cali gas is also shitty with the crap they put in it to help emmisions. Outside of Cali, all of my cars have had 40-60 more miles per tank.

those numbers actually arent that bad, considering my 2.2 gets around 280 to the tank on average, about 300-320 on all highway... then again my foot is pretty damn heavy at times..... I always fill at around the 14 gallon point when the fuel light comes on... my fuel needle is broken

Some people don't agree, but I get way more MPG with 93, that's all I use in either of my cars

Anything above 87 is worthless, i've seen dyno #'s back to back, i've seen performance #'s back to back, and mpg #'s back to back. All done in scientific environment w/ the 3.0. I'm going to have to see if I can do some digging to find the document...i may have saved it on an old hard drive...but it was done by a test lab that did that Motor Trend (I think MT) article a few years back.



The higher octanes simply can not burn fast enough to be efficient. Run 87, you will have MORE power and will get better efficiency. This is a FACT.

I get more miles per tank of gas in every car I've owned, with 93 over 87

it may be in your head (or may just be caused by the way you drive on that tank). The 3.0 Honda/Acura motor is not setup to be able to burn the high octane fuels efficiently....it hinders the motor. It's a known fact the cars run worse on the higher octane......and you'll see close to a 20 HP loss in some cases!!!



Trust me, I use to be a non-believer till I read the study and then went out and started buying 87...got much better gas mileage, car ran a lot better too.

I do know my motor runs quieter on 93 every time I use it...... maybe it is the drop in power showing through

I have a simliar article, but they tested a Civic and a 3 series BMW. They should what happened when you put lower octane in an engine that required 93. Then they went ahead and showed you what happened when you put 93 in an engine that only required 87. Everything Scott mentioned is true based on results I've seen and read as well.

I drove from philly to VA this past sunday which was about 320 highway miles, now i'm up to 358 after driving to school and back to the apt. on a full tank of 89 oc. The needle went to empty today so i could probably squeeze out 375 safely....If it was all highway and I stayed below 80 I would get about 400 to a tank highway.

We don't get 93 here in California, unfortunately.

On my wife's 1997 2.2CL, we get about 275 to 280 miles to per tankful on 87 and about 320 to 325 miles using Premium 91. Given the 20 cents/gallon difference in price, it is clearly more cost effective to get 91 (even though the manuals says 86 is fine!)

I can tell you its better....... barely

I run an average 21-23 on the bright side though that's mostly city and a heavy foot, and when the gas eating A/C comes on that drops to about 20

^ Jeebus. I was looking at a 2.2 manual, black with 110k miles for $3400. Looking for another beater for Cali as the Lexus will cost too much in gas over there and the Z3 makes me look like a fag. I'm looking for something in the 25mpg+ range. I do a lot of driving in SoCal.

BUT, this is almost 100% city driving only ...my wife does not take her car on the highway at all.

^ Oh, well that's good to hear. Cause my Lexus gets 20mpg on the freeway! So on the freeway the 2.2/2.3 could easily see 23+mpg.

Yes!

And higher too. As I recall, when I have taken it on the highway for extended trips, I have seen closer to 26 to 27 mpg. But, I have not done this in a while.

yeah on the freeway im pulling 320s easy, doing the math thats 23s, and I cruise at an average of around 75-80s since I always travel at of hours, so at an average 65-70 cruise id reckon 24-25 MPGs + the manual transmission on that one as opposed to my slushie will probably make a small difference too, maybe an extra 1 or 2 MPGs
