Is the 3.0 an interferance engine?

Just wondering if the timing belt on the 3.0 breaking will take out the valves or not?

I've heard yes...it can...and sometimes it might not break the valves....

(if your debating on waiting to do the 105K service...I'd say go ahead and get it done...theres nooo need to risk it!

I have 185k miles on my CL, the 1st belt was done on time.. i'm just wondering if I should do it again right away for piece of mind... sounds like its not a bad idea.

Anyone know what the labor ""book time" is for the job?

Damn check engine light came on on my way home for lunch... Think i'm gonna buy a code scanner today as well.

Man I can see this car quickly becoming a money pit like my mustang I bought this one as a "driver" lol

Check and check.. i'll giterdun asap.

Anyone know what average labor rates or book time is for the job - and how many have done the belt themselves?

I'm willing to tackle the job if it isn't too bad.

My check engine light turned out to be p0104 i think... egr probs... gonna clean it up and the passages this weekend. Sounds like its a common prob?

most acura dealers will charge about $700 for the timing belt/water pump job. you can do it yourself, theres a replacement kit on ebay with all you need for $144. it took me a LONG time, like 9 hours lol but it was worth saving $500+. wilp99 did his and i think he said it took him 4 hours, so i guess it depends on your level of experience

I'm fairly handy with a wrench - my other car is a ford

Any special tools needed? Should I pick up a manual (where?) or are there good instructions on-line?

700 is pretty steep, i'll be doing it myself for sure. I'm a parts guy by trade so a timing tensioner kit and belt is pretty cheap for me (about 180 CDN) for dayco stuff.

LOL - First on race day! - its a 91 mustang GT with a 408ci Windsor making about 430 rwhp - runs 11.2x @ 125 mph on radials Not your average ford.

However for dailey driving the Cl cannot be beat - I love it!

dont wanna make this a ford thread, cause im not a fan, but we put a modified 351 windsor in my cousins 94 GT and it was unreal....stomps everyone you can imagine, no contest...

still couldnt stand driving that bucket everyday though, once you go ack you don't go back

anyway, good to know you're gonna do the timing belt, if your 3.0 is still running fine, better to keep the piece of mind......damn i wish i would of done my water pump before, thats gonna be a long damn day
