3.0 CL Intake Install Question

Just curious guys, I know that there is no intake kit made specifically for our cars that you have to use the Honda Accord one. I had one from AEM very briefly and noticed that the part that bolts to the engine bay isn't exactly in the right location. I think the Accord has the bolt a little to the left. So what do you guys do? Just let the tube hang there or something?

Yeah mine just hangs there, just make sure it's as tight as possible where its mounted. I haven't had a problem with it.

I have an AC Autotechnic from 99 3.0L Accord. The kit came with a bracket that had to be modded a bit. There is a spot in the engine bay where you can bolt the bracket it should be located right where the intake pipe bends. I think i have pics of it in my site but if i dont, i'm taking pics this weekend. I just dropped my ride again with neuspeed springs and kyb's. So i'll take a bracket shot for you to see.

My AEM (one-piece) CAI fits perfectly. The bracket lines right up.

Thanks for the input guys.

The CAI probably fits better. But on the short ram, it's a little different. The single place that's supposed to bolt in the engine bay is a little off, by around a couple of inches or so.

I'm asking b/c I'm thinking about getting the volant intake kit. They only make it for the accord. It's made of polyethylene instead of metal, so it should be more quiet.

nalaree007 you're right

I already install a no name short ram CAI for my 3.0 CL and the bolt is a little off. I just use a aluminium piece to make it install correctly!

I don't have picture of it install but maybe this week if you want it.

It's quieter b/c it's enclosed. But forget that one, get the Comptech one.

It's quieter b/c it's made of plastic instead of metal. Anyways, the Comptech one is nice, but it's $100 more.

It doesn't matter what it's made of. It's quiet b/c it doesn't allow the sound waves to escape from the actual intake tube. Take a short ram and put it inside the Comptech cover box and you will have the same damn thing.

They are made of plastic b/c it would be extremely expensive to make it out of metal, as you would pretty much have to mill out a solid block to create the same shape. You can mold the plastic for pennies.

The loudness I'm talking about is at idle. The metal tube "hums" b/c of the resonance. Plastic doesn't have that same problem.

I know the comptech one is a better system, but it's $100 more than the volant.
