3.0 Autos

when you guys with auto's want to start off, say if your racing or just messing around, does anyone have a trick or anything to start off quicker from a stand still, people with maunals can take off alot quicker, but autos all you can do is press the gas, ive seen people rev up in neutral and put it into drive( to act as a clutch) but that just screws up our tannys even worse, just wondering what you guys do...

hold the brake, add some gas till you get to ____ rpm (i never do it so i dont know whats safe, and dont hold it there long or your torque converter goes down the toilet) and then release the brake and youll be moving before you know it

Power breaking is the way to go. But if you do it a lot in a row, you're car will start to get super sluggish....torque converter problem maybe... so if you're going to be racing a lot don't do it everytime.

hold in the break with your left foot...then slowly press on the gas with your right foot...(you'll hear the engine rev up) and i'd say about 2000rpms is adv. maybe more...

too much gas and you'll feel the car starting to slip away and move forward...

but then u just slam onto the gas and let your leftfoot off the break...

PS dont touch the parking (E break) break

Only if you do it wrong...

I power-brake just a tad and floor it/release the brake at the EXACT same time - car lunges forward but doesn't stall. I shift from D1-D2-D3. I move it up one notch at around 6100+ rpms, it runs the engine up to 6600 or so before it shifts - pulls pretty hard.

I use to powerbreak all the time, then i blew my tranny from doing so, ever since i stopped doing it for the most part. But now if i attempt to do so, i lose my races cause i end up just spinning my tires for like 3 seconds and sometimes all through 1st. So i say do what you like, but my advice would be not to power break it, unless you wanna pay for a new tranny. I still debate whether starting it it first gear, or D4 makes a difference, I still cant figure it out myself. But I start it off from 1st anyways, and then shift my way up. I think I'll try out starting in D3 like someone mentioned, see if I like that.

The only reason I gate shift is to run the engine past redline. Otherwise D3 is fine.
