225/40/18 Tire Rubbing! Help?

As you all know, I recently put on 18's with 225/40/18 Kuhmo 712's. But the back tires rub. They are rubbing on that arm that crosses over the back wheel, I think it's a ball joint arm. It only does it when I tweak the back end. (i.e. Turning right into a sloped drive) Is there any solution to this problem?? Can I move that arm or shave it away a little?

I am lowering the car next week with the pro-kit. Will that arm come down with the spring? (I dont think it will) But if it does, it will be sitting on my tire!! As of right now, no lowering done, I can fit my fingers between the tire and that bar.

HELP!
Thanx

Lowering it won't kae it any worse, but your front will get bad. Sounds like you have a different offset then the rest of us on your wheels. What is yours?

THat bar is the upper control arm. It controls the linearity of the rear wheels keeping them true up and down.

Yeah, must be an offset issue.

I ran the same tires you have on 18 x 7.5 ADR Valkyrie rims with a 42 mm offset and was no where near rubbing.

that's weird then because you shouldn't be rubbing. Have you seen where it is rubbing? Get some pics if possible!

Strange. Something isn't jiving here. If you have a 42mm offset, then why is your car the only one rubbing the tires? I also have 225/40/18's and I had my rims on before I got it dropped, and I never experienced any rubbing whatsoever.

May want to do some investigating into the true offset of those rims you have. Also may want to look at your rear suspension and axles, something may need to be replaced there as well.

Remember, I only rubs in extreme cases. I just try to hit my driveway and other entrances head on instead of sideways.

Front has less clearance in the wheel well, you will rub the fender lining at the top from time to time on bumps.

Even more with the stock shocks. They are not designed to take a different spring height/rate. If you go with the KYB AGX's or other adjustable shocks, you can firm it up a bit.
