2000 RPM Shaking

Does anyone else have their vehicle kinda shake around 2000 rpm? I don't think its a transmission problem, it seems like some piece of trim is shaking becuase it doesn't matter what gear I'm in, just when I get close to 2000rpms it starts to make a shaking noise.

Thanks & good night!

Thanks,

I'll try that. Is that the permanent solution then, or will I just have to adjust my steering wheel every time?

Thanks

Here's your "fluids" thread: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=85555 (it's on "page 2" of the threads).

I tried lowering my wheel all the way, and the shaking was still there around 2000 rpms... it is always just a little below 2000rpms that there's this shaking, I can't really describe it, but it just doesn't sound right. I was worried it was the trans at first, but I get the feeling it may be coming from the back of the car.

Thanks.

Is it more of a vibrating sound? If so, I got the same thing right around 1900rpm's. It sounds to me as if some of the interior panels are coming a bit loose and vibrating at that frequency of my exhaust note. It actually went away over the summer months (assuming the hot weather caused the insulation to expand) but now that it is cold again it has returned. Have somebody sit in your backseat and pound around on the panels to find out where its coming from. I'm sure some Dynomat would take care of the prob. I'm just too lazy to do it. Anybody got a quick fix?

Yeah, that's what I think it is... I'll try having someone sit in the back later this week. I got the car from a honda dealer and they said that the noise is a warranty item, so I will go and drop the car off when I get the chance.

P.S. What's Dynomat?

Thanks.

same problem started last week exactly at 2000 rpm's
i narrowed it down to the heat shield over the cat and down the exhaust. i'm gonna tach weld it sometime this week
get someone to keep the rpm's at 2000 and then search for the problem

Dynomat is a sound insulation typically used for stereos. It will reduce vibration coming from a high output system (subwoofer). It's also used to deaden any other outside noise so your stereo will sound better and interior will be quieter. You can find it at most car audio shops. It works pretty good, but install can be very time consuming (you have to remove your interior panels). It also adds some weight depending on how much you use. Good luck with it, and let those of us who are interested know what you did to solve the problem. Personally, I just cruise around faster or slower than 1900-2000 rpm's.

I'm going to take the car into the dealer I got the car from (Honda dealer) on Friday, and they said they'll try and fix it. I'll let you all know what they find.

does the whole car shake? or does it just make a shaking noise?
If it just makes the noise it could be a heatshield that has become loose. That happened to me a few months ago, sounds like it might be the same problem youre having.

I think that's what it might be. I'm taking it in tomorrow to have that looked at, so we'll see... I'm hoping the trans is in good shape.

Wish me luck!

Apparently, my front bumper had some piece that was loose, and that was causing the shaking... I'll post the definitive answer when I get my car this afternoon.

I found out my shaking noise is coming from the clothes hanger right behind the drivers seat. I'm gonna try to pop it off and figure out a solution. Anyone else had this prob?

Yeah my 97 3.0 has had that problem for years! I have taken it to acura at least 5 times and they cannot figure it out. They think that it is the insulation under the dash, but don't know how to fix it. I have just gotten use to it and try and stay out of that 1900-2000 range. Just gun it and worry about the whistle from the CAI...

I got the car back the other day and the shaking is still there... I'll take it in again... So the acura dealer didn't know? That's weird... it is kinda annoying and 1900-2000rpms is perfect city cruising speed (at least in Ann Arbor, where there are 50:1 cop to driver ratio).

I don't know if it is the clothes hanger... I'll keep you all posted if they find something.

I got the same problem around 1800rpm to 2000rpm! Seems to be comming from the front left of the car also. It just started like 1 week ago, right when it got cold. I am gonna wait and see if it goes away when it warms up the next few days here is Florida.
