the cl 2.2 weighed 3,064 lbs. and the cl 3.0 weighed 3,219 right? and the 2.2 pushes "145 hp." while the 3.0 pumps out "200 hp." nobody car argue with that its facts..

so will someone please tell me why there is such a little difference in the speed between the 2 cars.. obviously the weight is barely different math shows that weight difference can make the 3.0 AT THE SLOWEST .02 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile.

evidence: because there is nobody around here, except for 150 year old people that drive 1g CL's i raced a 98 3.0 4dr accord which weighs a whopping 3,285 (yes thats right 4 door grocery getter weighs 66 LBS MORE than a CL ) and i opened up a 1/2 car lead on him through first gear by 95 when we hit the brakes (because of traffic) he was about even with me...

i never thought that it would be remotely close.. i cant get that through my head 55 more hp.. not any faster

everybody around here must drive when im at home/school/work theres one kid/guy with a dropped shaved black cl on rims but he wont race me .. i let the intake sing and he wouldnt do anything.. thats as close to another cl as i have gotten

 

jamolie and some other kid raced and video taped it. below 60-70mph the 2.x is faster after taht its all 3.0

 

where can i get my hands on that?

My 3.0 will a 2.X. Check 1/4 mile times on all three
(3.0, 2.3, and 2.2). Not only do 3.0's have 200hp but we also have
195lbs of torque. 2.X at the most have 151.

 

that vid was of a bone stock 3.0 and a 2.x with i/h/e and it was a 5 speed. come take a vacation to tampa bay and ill kick ur ass if thats what u want. maybee the dude in the 4 door didnt know what he was doin. ive raced another 2 dr accord v6 98 and kicked his ass by atleast 3 carlengths. and i had another person w/ me. its all bout how far the other person is willin to push his whip. and if they know how far they can push it.

 

Since I'm one of those old guys with a 3.0 thought I'd speak up., Love my 3.0, it's plenty fast enough. I've raced a variety of cars including Accords, modded Civics and never had one come close. Haven't had the chance to take on another CL, it'd be fun I'm sure.... so I guess I don't agree, I think the 3.0 is just fine.....

after 80 the 3.0 will school the 2.2. when mine was stock i took a 2.2 with intake header exhaust. rolling like at 20mph. the only reason u pull on that accord was ur's a 5-speed...

0-60 goes to the 2.3 5spd, and he just had an intake (5whp, whop-ed-e-do)
60+ goes to the 3.0
Highway goes to the 3.0

2.x 5spd gets the 0-60 b/c you can launch the thing. You can tq-brake the 3.0, but it doesn't help that much (I did it at 2K in the vid, just spins the tires unless you are on a prepped track - stupid FWD).

The guy in the car you raced must have had something wrong or just can't drive. It's also possible that you caught him at a point where the stupid auto wouldn't downshift and left him hanging for a bit. He might be too dumb to pull it down in gear himself.

Where are you getting that they are close? On paper in your calculations it still doesn't make sense. Every 10lbs extra takes away about 1hp, so that means the weight diff takes off 15.5hp from the 3.0. So 145 vs. 184.5 and the 3.0 has gobs more torque. Looks at the 1/4 mile specs. There is about a full second diff between the two stock.

 

10 lbs equal 1 h.p. no way.. he knew we were racing i asked him to in a parking lot.. no excuses there.. also... where is the 1/4 mile specs i'd love to see them... OH and we didnt lanch we were going like 5 i wanted a more acurate race ALSO how do you not no how to drive an automatic? i mean come on he punched it thats all thats to it

 

i dont know what was wrong with that accord then... mabe its the gearing you have the advantange down low? but for me every time i line up with a F22/23 it doesnt put up much of a race. not trying to say 3.0 is the HOTTEST shit and spanks everything its just stronger then the 2.x

I ran my friend's 2.3 Cl plenty of times. Seriously, ever time I beat him by countless cars, don't know why, and I never sprayed on him. But a stock H22 CL against all my mods can tie with me the whole way. Not bad for a stock car vs all the crap I have (not including n2o). Well, Duece never beat me though It was Ryan that was always a good run. But he pulled away after 120mph on the freeway.

No, I mean the H22. Ryan and Duece both have H22 swaps. The only f23 I've raced was my other friend. We've raced many times with the same results. I won by countless cars for some odd reason.

never once a 2.2/2.3 CL came close to my 3.0 in a street race. I love pull up to those Civic and Integra while they're racing and just spanking the hell out of them. i didn that a few time.

there are some point of speed in the 3.0 where if u smash the gas and it take forever to pick up. in like the thirty-something and low fourty's mph. other than that....when i floor it u just hear the intake sucking.

 

maybe 2.2/2.3 have shorter gears.. thus they have quicker acceleration with less ponies..

and the 3.0's have longer gears.. getting more top speed then acceleration..

thats why 2.X's have a jump start on 3.0's.. but in the long run... the 3.0 will cream it

 

When I raced soodark he definately took me off the line, but when I started hitting about 60 I was reeling him in quick until he shut off. He has a 5 speed, that's the biggest reason he took me off the line.

 

I raced a h22a w/ a CL gear box and spanked him by about 2 cars, don't think the car was running right though

Yes way. Common understood figures there buddy.

What I meant was that he didn't know how to force it into the needed gear. As in the quote below, there is a couple points where the auto will not automatically downshift to the lower gear, and will leave you hanging out of VTEC lagging along. You can manually pull it down and use at least 1000-1500 rpms of the previous gear to get you moving much quicker. From a 5mph roll though, it should have easily put itself in 1st gear though.

From a 5mph roll, a 3.0 would KILL you. Since you don't have a launch to throw you ahead - you'd get smoked. Something had to be wrong with his car or he manually put it in 2nd on accident.

Like was mentioned before, the 5spd does have better gearing than the auto-4. Even with that though, it cannot compare to the extra torque of the 3.0. Remember tq moves cars, not HP. This is why a heavier car with a bigger engine may be an equal match from a dead stop, but will whip ur ass on the highway (IE 740i).
