2.75" bypass valve

Ok heres the story...A couple months ago i got a bypass valve installed on my aem cai. The guy didnt have any 2.5" bypass valve soo we put on a 2.75" bypass valve and put some kinda filling in to make up for the gap. I've noticed a big difference in tone and loudness of the intake. It is alot quiter then it use to be at WOT. It use to growl like a mother. Now it sounds like a baby. Is this normal? If i had 2.5" with no filling would it sound like a normal non bypassed intake?

when i had mine it made no difference in sound....

by-pass valves are useless wastes of $$$$ and it looks like you just lost $$$ for both the bypass valve and your now CUT intake!!! Why would you agree to buy and install something you KNOW isnt right!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

You probably lost sound because you are now losing air!!!

try and buy another intake for cheap off ebay...

If i took the fitted 2.75" off (which seems to fitted tight) and put a 2.5" bypass valve on would it sound normal? right now it is soo much quieter then it use to be w/ out the bypass!

it will be better being that it fits correctly... I never understood how they say those bypas valves worked... if you ask me it defeats the purpose of a CAI since it allow syou to suck in air from bypass which is hot.... there i sno stopping mechanism to prevent air in.... do what you feel is right... I say get rid of it!!!!

and for the record.. I have driven through torential downpoors from Virginia thru florida and through massive puddle with an INJEN non bypas.. mind you my nose is wifde open with the body kit... and NO PROBLEMS!!!! water will only effect your car if you are submerged!!!! rain water no matter how extensive will sit on the filter and dry off with sucking and heat from the motor.. thats why there is oil in the filter... to catch dirt and to resist water... do the old oil, vinegar and water test... WATER NEVER MIXES OR PENETRATES OIL!!!

btw the only reason i got it was because i like spazzed out my friend has one and hes like you have a CAI without a bypass? Oh my god! Cause like out of my friends my car is the lowest, the filter is maybe couple inchs from ground. So it kept raining and i was getting all nervous and im like shit i gave in i went to local shop and they through on the 2.75" one and made it fit? What im just thinkin is...if "bypass valve" is soo important? then it would come on every AEM CAI they ship. Because they would have law suits like crazy from people w/ blown engines.

dude, get a rubber coupling, the thing that connects your throttle body and your intake, and put one in place of where you cut it. then take the bypass valve and throw it in the river. i live in PA and drove around with an cai for 2.5 years in this area also known as a rain forest and had no problems.
