2.3 for sale 1 mile away..?'s

Alright so im driving out to the Eastwood Mall (yes i can drive again! lol) and I see this Ack. and it had a for sale sign on it. So im like shit. so i pull over and look at it. First glace had some body damage. Scuff on the bumper that looks like it would buff out and the right rear QP had a oblonge softball sized dent. And some more dents and what not. It had 115K and they were asking $5100. Yea no way he is getting that. But when I asked him if he had noticed any tranny problems. He said none at all. And i said i had a 3.0 that had it crap out and was going to again so my dad sold it. Then he said well its his buddies car and he (the person i was talking to) said his old Lude did that. But then he said this tranny is a good one because it doesnt have some chip? lol. Bi something maybe. Idk what he was talking about. So tell me... Does he?

A chip to stop the tranny from slipping? wtf. The reason why the tranny shifts hard is because of clutch packs wearing down, check out this thread for a lil more info: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ission+rebuild

but uh, i dont see how a chip is helping it.

Not sure how to interpret that one..

Maybe it was missing a shift-control chip so it stayed in 1st gear never getting a chance to slip.

These trannies seem to be from hell, but like with anything there will always be the odd one that miraculously always works. Just the same, good products have the odd lemon too, just fewer in number.

The torque converters also crap out, the 2.3 autos still have problems, but far less as far as I can see, most of the auto problems stay to the 3.0's

Just go manual tranny since ur dad wont let u get an auto. You wont regret it. I'd also never go 2.X auto, worst of both worlds. Super slow and shitty tranny.

Dont get a truck, live it up while you're young and get a coupe. you'll have plenty of time to get suv's when you're older and have a family

my dad said im not getting something sporty
and I tried a 300M, GTP coupe/sedan.
its hopeless. Maybe a nice Tacoma or 4Runner with a rammer on the front haha.
Around the 99 models. Nothing sporty. Thats buggin me. He said it was cuz of insurance prices. I offered to pay the difference. No go though. Im trying im trying. I just want this car ordeal to be done and over with. He took me to see this ranger today about 2 blocks away. i spotted rust (thank god) so it threw my dad right off it. Thank god lol.

Nothing sporty eh? I know how you feel. I wanted an 02 Mustang but parents said no because of the insurance. Can't blame them tho.

It dosn't look like he could afford insurance so the type of car he gets isn't really up to him. I know how that goes...

With built-in fender vents! lol

Sucks that your dad doesnt want anything sporty. He considers a 1st gen 4 cylinder sporty cuz of the manual tranny?

'92 Dodge Spirit R/T. Looks like an ugly, boring-ass Spirit but hides a 247 horse supercharged 2.5 under the hood.

4-door memère car on the outside, 2.3 CL annihilating car on the inside.

Then keep workin with him to find something you both agree on. That 4runner looks nice, everyone knows I love my DD 4runner, the only thing that cracked me up was this pic accidently got put in there

beds FTL, love having interior with folding seats, that pic just cracked me up. 120K is a lot of miles, but that's why it's so f'ing cheap. I'd keep lookin, judginf from the rust on the brush guard, i can only imagine how bad the underside looks

And lemme just say I'm so glad my interior doesn't look like that or I never would have bought one

6k is way low for a 99 it has to have serious issues. Damage multiplier ftl. Get an ARB or go home.

i used to drive a 98 crv that i really liked. 5speed m/t with leather interior and CAI. very fun to drive, and had a sporty look to it with a few aftermarket adjustments.
