Cool 2.2 transmission gone to hell

Wassup Fam

I find out from Dr. EVIL that the tranny has something internally wrong with it and needs to be replaced. He quoted me saying that it will cost 5000 for a new one.

I need your knowledge fam. The car is in mint condition and not going to sell her for 4 g's, which is what he told me. The car looks like 7 gs to me. Compared to other cars.

Well can i use a tranny from an accord? How much would that be compared to a used 2.2 cl if im lucky to find one

thanks

first off.. is this a 5 speed tranny or a 4 speed auto?

If its a 4speed, you should definitely go for an upgrade to 5speed... the fun factor increases 10-fold.

If you had a 3.0, it might be worth it to upgrade to dr.evil, but for a 2.2, probably not.

And yes, an accord tranny from 94-97 will work. Also, an h22 or an h23 tranny will fit too. with the H-series tranny, the gearing is different and what I hear is that because of the gearing, 1/4 mile time goes down nearly a second...

So it is a 4 banger, but u think i can put a 5 speed. Will this cost me more?

Yeah i was wondering about puting an H22, but don't want to spend to much. My car is back to luxury stock and not performace sport any more...lol

a 5 speed transmission swap is definitely do-able... if you're keeping it luxo, then maybe its not for you though.

Hey should I rebuild her or buy used tranny?

I've been researching and i've heard rebuilding it is the best.
