1997 CL 2.2 or Lexus SC400?

I currently have a Lexus 1992 SC400 with 150K miles on it with all the add-ons, premium wheels, etc., but a/c is broken (cracked), some visible dings and scratches on exterior and interior as well. Work was already done to radiator and already replaced alternator and timing belt. I have a chance to get a 1997 Acura CL 2.2 with 114K miles, but no problems from original owner for way below market value (family friend).

I'm wondering if it's time to spring on this deal because of the Acura's less mileage and 5 years newer. Which car would be more reliable for the next few years? What problems start popping up on the CL at this mileage? Does anyone know how this CL compares with the SC400 as far as performance, power, etc.? Would anyone make this swap?

Any help I could get would be great.

The biggest problems on the CL have to do with the automatic transmissions but since its a manual thats not a problem. As far as power goes I think you will be disappointed going from the SC to the CL. The V8 in that thing over powers the 4 cyl in the CL by a long way. If the power is a concern for you I would stick with the SC, otherwise I think the 2 are pretty similar as far as features go.

Word..you going backwards eventhough the CL is newer. The only thing you would need to do is the timing belt and probably the control arms. Mine just went on mine at 127K and I drove it like a maniac.

I have all kinds of problems with my 3.0, but my sister has a 2.2 and nothing ever happens to it. The only real difference is that that 2.2, in my opinion, is fairly slow. Don't get me wrong, if you need to pass someone on the highway, it's no big deal, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're used to having V-6 power.

I might be, I work for a government contractor, and may be doing a 2-3 month tour over there to support forward command. That all depends if I get salary first or not.
