100% SURE Answer needed.

Please reply if you know for 100% SURE. This sounds like a newbie question, so sorry.

Does anyone have this exact car-1997 2.2CL 5speed

With an AEM cold air intake system from a '94-'97 Accord??

I have accounts set up directly with AEM, and the rep said that it would not fit without modifications. I don't want to modify, I know that people on this forum have this set-up, and I would like to know for sure that I am right that it is a direct plug and play fit. Maybe the 5-speed transmition has something to do with the way the intake is set up, or maybe he doesn't know what he is talking about. Before I place the order, I need confirmation from you guys. Thanks in advance, I really appriciate it.

No, I don't have a 1997 2.2 5 speed.

But, being around these boards long enough, I say order it. It WILL work. NO modifications. Several people have this intake. Don't worry about it. Order it, install it, and have fun.

True, but the AEM rep through me when he said he did not reccomend it. I'm sure I'm just being over cautious, but a little back up would help. Thanks.

the 2.2 engine used in the CL is the same as used in the Accord.

You shouldn't have a problem with it going right in.

i have that exact car... i put a cai on and they fit fine but the one thing people never talk about on here is you have to unplug the air sensor that goes on the stock one or drill a hole for it in the cai. i dont know alot but i have put on my mods and done a little research so email me if you have any more questions...

The AEM CAI already has the hole for the air sensor. You dont need to drill anything. It fits fine. NO MODIFICATIONS.

Thanks guys... I know this sounds like a newbie question that gets asked all of the time, but look, there is some disagreement. I am almost sure that it is a direct fit, I just wanted some back up from someone that actually did it. Now I pretty much have it. i suppose the conclusion is that AEM has the hole pre-drilled, where others do not. Anyone else that wants to throw their two pennies in is welcome to do so.

i have a 97 auto and a aem cai for a 94-97 accord

there is one eletrical conector you can just unhook from the intake. it is not needed. and one vacume line you need to cap off.

the only holes in the intake it i remember right are the valve breather tube hole, where air goes in ,and where air goes out
