Yeah i never knew it was going to happen with me. I think the regulartor is going to cost somewhere around $112-$130. Going to the dealer on sat. Also going to look at some new Acura's. My mom wants the new RL....so there might be a new Acura in the family soon.

I've got a new DIY project coming to replace both of my window regulators. It's been a long time coming, my passenger side started squeeling the other day.

That happened to my drivers side one day as I was leaving Outback Steakhouse. Luckily I was in the car.

The next day I took it to Acutech Motors and they fixed it for $276.00.
It hurt my pocket at the moment, but I had no choice. I wouldn't dare to fix it myself. Looks complicated. Good luck with everything.

how did you get to the regulator. i took off the door panel, but i couldnt figure out how to get that other cover off (not the plastic bag thing).

those accord regulators off ebay will work wont they i remember reading a post of someone saying the would (not in this thread)

the driver side regulator on my 97 3.0 popped yesterday, so I've been looking into this. e-mailed and called 1A about the regulator they advertise as fitting the 2.2 (on ebay and on their web site). they told me it definitely doesn't fit the 3.0 and that they've had 30+ returns from 3.0 owners.

so I called three dealerships asking after part numbers, and it looks like the 2.2 had a different regulator than the 97 3.0. from talking to them, it sounds like the 97 3.0 regulator also made it into 98-99 2.3 and 3.0's and that only the 2.2 is different. something more definitive would be nice, but here's what I've got so far...

part numbers:

97 2.2: 72250-SV2-003
97 3.0: 72250-SY8-A03

I had a 2.2 a while back with the same problem on the driver side, but it blew in the dead of winter on my way home from the airport and I had the dealership replace it for about $350. little overpriced for a part that's obviously defective and will only fail again (and again and...), so I'm gonna replace this one myself.

I also called acura customer relations and opened a case. course I haven't heard back from them. yet.

anyone have a link to photos of clip locations, etc for removing the panel? I'd like to know what I'm getting into if acura doesn't offer goodwill consideration or silent warranty for a part that obviously deserves a recall.

I'm guessing this is a 97 issue. I've not heard of it in the 98 models. Mine seem to be fine, a little weak if the engine is off, but that is normal. I have to say that is the first time I ever heard of one just falling without any reason. Fuck, that would really bite ass if you were at work and it was raining or some shit like that.

Well when I get my regulator this sat. I can do a DYI about how to take the door apart and install of a regulator. Might as well since I am doing it.

I just cant belive that there is that many people that has the same problem. There should be something done about this, but I know nothing will…oh well

Yes, please do the DIY, I took mine to acura, and got raped to have my regulator replaced. Would be nice to see how to change it yourself for future incidents for us all.

acura customer relations called back and agreed to cover the greater of parts or labor, so it looks like no more than 132.26 (cost of the part) to me.

factors acura said they considered in my claim were: the car's age (clearly out of warranty) and mileage (really low), identical failure on my other cl, loyalty in buying acuras. because of the car's age they went to the dealer to look for any other reason they should help, like verification of my prior experience at the dealer (recall and warranty work, maintenance or repairs I've had the dealer perform, also confirmed the 2.2 regulator problem). basically criteria you'd use to decide the worth in keeping me as a customer.

short of a silent recall this seems like a best case scenario, so I thought some of ya'll might be able to use this information. if you have history with a good dealer and take a few minutes to chase down a claim, you shouldn't be paying $350 at the dealer or tearing your door apart to save money.

hell I wasn't really dying to take my door apart anyway, and this way it's their responsibility. also I imagine this sets a precedent for my next exploding regulator.

Hrm, just wondering, when i lock my door and theres a loud grinding noise for about 1-2 seconds, then it locks, would this have anything to do with this window thing? I know it's probably diff, but just wanted to get some opinions... so far it hasnt done anything to affect my door locks, just that the noise sometimes scares the shit outta me when i forget about it

There are some used cl/accord regulators for sale on ebay, that alone will save you $100 or so. If I recall, he did put up pics and a DIY already. Do a search on here, I bet you'll find it, I remember seeing the pics

you know what...i listen to chris (cocoa) about doing it yourself. I was tripping because i thought it would be hard. The shit was easy as hell, well once you know. lol It worked fine and the install went pretty good, just the hard part was connecting all the wires and screws back together. Other than that it was easy.

hey mofo, put up the pics at least. my window reg on my drivers side died yesterday (figures right in the middle of a rainstorm 10 miles from home)... anyways, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take the door pannel off. are there clips? or screws? just circle in the pics where the clips/screws are to take it apart. I'm pissed. please help.

quick DIY>...take off the speaker cover...it just pops off. Then unscrew the speaker and the handle there are three on the out side and three more on the inside...this part is a bitch. To take off the mirror controls you have to pop it out form the inside when you get the door off. Also dont for get to unplug the led harness. and...ahh too much...will right the rest later. Here are some pictures for now...I will draw on them so you can see where.

i got up too the 2nd pic except i didnt take out the speaker. i cant seem to find how you get to the regulator. i can see it when i stick my head through that big hole, but i dont know how to take it off.

i put a piece of wood to hold up the window for the meantime. but i want to fix it asap.
