Higher performance version
Higher performance version
Does anyone wish there will be a higher performance version? Something with a more powerful motor and non-CVT trans? I bought an original RDX in late 2007 and it served us well till late 2022 with 172k miles on the clock. It handled well with SH-AWD and a decent motor. I'd consider replacing my Macan GTS with an ADX with decent performance knowing the Acura would be reliable and cost-effective to maintain.

There’s no engine in Honda’s portfolio that’s even remotely close to the 2.9TT EA839

Just got an ADX a spec. I had a 2011 RDX before and believe there isn’t a whole lot of difference in performance. This is an entry level model so not expecting high performance. In sport mode i have found it fun to drive.
One should be realistic about the ADX. Its an "entry level" car into this segment. It is not high performance. Remember that it is, after all, a "upscale" Honda HR-V. That is NOT a bad thing, the HR-V is a very popular vehicle selling over 10,000 units a month. (90k in the first six months of 2025 alone). Its a mature platform. Acura took this solid platform (shared with the very popular Civic) and gave it some serious upgrades. Better suspension, nicer interior, more tech, and a big boost in performance. The power train is a very well proven one similar to the CR-V and Accord Honda's. That gives it a well proven, reliable design. The AD-X is a much better performer than the HR-V, but not a high powered European BWM or whatever.
We have both an third generation RDX and a ADX. I don't try to compare them as they are just two very different vehicles. Each is great at what it does. If we are doing long trips its in the RDX. If we are running around town or more local driving we take the ADX. We have several thousand miles on our ADX and the longer I drive it the more I like it for what it is. Its a sweet little car to drive. Its comfortable, handles oh-so well, has wonderfully powerful and smooth brakes and the tech in it is outstanding for us.
If you are looking for something to replace a Porsche or other high performance vehicle look elsewhere.....and get ready to spend some serious cash. If you are looking for a nice vehicle to run around in then give it a try. We love ours.
