Hey guys, searched and searched for an answer to this question but no dice. I'm in the midst of swapping my interior from one car to the other and I had a question regarding the front seat airbag modules. According to another Acurazine member that has done an interior swap before, the front seat airbag modules must be swapped along with the seats due to them being synced individually to each cars computers meaning module for car A can't be used in car B, it has to remain with car A.

Here's some pictures...this can also be a question thread regarding my interior swap if anyone has any questions.

The below image is a shot of the bottom of my drivers seat. I'm guessing that the airbag module is that black box, but I'm not 100% sure. What do you guys think?

 

Thanks to gerzand, found it. Here it is for anyone else who stumbles on this thread in the future.

You're looking at the rear of the passenger seat. There is only one module, and it's right here. There is no module in the driver seat.

 

i didnt think it would be necessary to swap modules since its the same parts...for example a new seat should just be plug and play...

anyways, you should fix that flaccid armrest haha

 

If you don't swap them, you will get a permanent SRS light that can only be reset by the dealership via reprogramming with an HDS tool.

I know, I have to look up the DIY for it.

New issue on my hands is figuring out how to get the sunroof headliner out. The whole headliner was easy, this doesn't look to be to easy.

 

Well even with me swapping the passenger seat airbag module, I'm now throwing an SRS light on both cars. I was able to successfully reset them but both of them immediately returned.

Any ideas?

I swap my base 07 seats for 08 type s seats, all connectors were plug and play. SRS came on, all I had to do was reset the opds sensor on the passenger seat, way easier than swapping the opds units...

 

Did you have the dealership do that?

 

Honestly the amount of work of swapping these units it may just be more worthwhile to pay the dealer to reset the light. All they gotta do is plug it on their computer really quick, they'll charge 1 hour of labor(standard) for it but its usually about $110. After a certain amount of frustration, you'll rather spend that $110

 

Not sure if this would eliminate your light, but you can delete any codes yourself in the navigation diagnostic screen.

Learned a lot in the process too. I actually think that the two tone tan interior looks better on the NBP and the black definitely looks better in the KBP.

 

yea, one of the perks of working at a Honda dealership, took about 10 minutes to reset.

like someone said, its easier and less frustrating to pay the dealer than to swap opds units

 

Yeah, for whatever reason, I got the SRS light even though I swapped the OPDS unit....the car should have detected no differences at all because there were none!

 

did u disconnect the battery while u were switching the seats? if not it might have sense the opds disconnected, thats the only thing i can think of...

 

spend $110 and problem solved.

I want to update this thread. I finally eliminated both of my SRS lights from both cars last night. Solutions was to initialize and calibrate both my ODS and SWS. Our cars, unlike some other Hondas, also have a SWS (seat weight sensor) that is individually initialized to a cars ECU and must also be swapped/initialized in order to not throw an SRS light.

I'll be doing a full write up with everything you need to know about an HIM/HDS tool here today! Very very very useful tool.

Looking fro clarification: The passenger seat module is what is going to cause the light to come on. So if i swapped seats from a 2008 into my 2005 is the connector the same and just need to be reset or is the passenger side connector actually different in a 2005?

I don't know if the connectors are different or not. I'm going to guess that they are. Even if they aren't, you're going to need to swap the Seat Weight Sensors and the occupant detection system modules along with the seats. Both of these are found in the seat. I have no clue where the SWS is though. This is something I got around by re-calibrating them with my HDS tool.

 

so how did you calibrate them and what do i need to do and get to get my seat swap issue resolved.. i have that pesky airbag light on also.
