Precat Deletes + Upgraded Jpipe + No 3rd Cat + Stock Exhaust = very sexy exhaust note

just finished installing the above on acroNtypeS.... took a little under 4 hours because I had a few weeks without even seeing a tl engine bay

anyway back on topic, the exhaust note was pretty aggressive but silent inside the car, had to rush cuz I actually do work today and couldn't take his car out for a test drive... hope you see this dude

I guess I will wait for acroNtypeS to post up a flyby if the fumes aren't keeping him busy

infamouslink came by spent the entire time talking bout whipz and shit... lol he knows what fumes I am talking about by the way

Yea i know what fumes you talking about. Thanks for letting me come thru and just chill. good meeting you, wanderer, and acroNtypeS. Install is very simple if you know how to turn a wrench. Learned alot about the TL while looking at it from under. Now i have a better view of things for when i install my RV6 Package. liek stillhere said, Car sounded beautiful in shop. How did it sound once you opened it up on the highway?

Do you have stock resonator and mid muff?

Because I had my dynamax changed to the bigger magnaflow res, and I'm still getting a very annoying rasp from 2-3k.. No happy about that..

Is there any rasp at all? If not I may have to look for a completely stock mid pipe that someone wants to trade..

Great to hear another satisfied RV6 customer. I really want to see what all the hype is about with the precat deletes!

I replaced the mid muffler with a 2.5" straight pipe and I love the difference in sound. And honestly, I feel that I gained torque...

well if you guys are sooooooo concerned about the rasp... put it in a resonated third cat...

the rasp in acron's ride is minimal... I couldn't believe how good it sounded up to 4k... soon as it got near 5k it was all intake from then on lol

evan: I don't think it will be raspy if you have a resonated exhaust with the cone in place... but what you could do is have jae weld up a 2.5" magnaflow metal cat in the place where you have your racepipe... that is if you aren't completly happy with the exhaust note

the only car I've heard with the excelerate catback + no cats is wanderer's.... after I installed the resonated third cat, his exhaust note quieted down considerably... to the point where I was satisfied really

josh said he's going to have a meet at his location come spring time... maybe we'll have a few tl's sporting his exhaust with no cats... who knows

ABP- when we doing this bro. you know you want to and if you dont like the sound you can always fix it afterwards but you know you want the precats.

I have resonated 3rd car.. with rasp.. I dont know what to do now...

or
Just buy a real exhaust.. (ATLP base )

I also have the pre cats, j-pipe, and resonated 3rd cat with a stock exhaust and mid-muffler removed. My first thought was it sounded 350z and G35iish, but a lil louder. I have lilttle rasp on cold start up, but nothing unbearable, and the in cabin sound is nice as stillhere153 stated. I like the sleeper look and when i start my car it has that growl that catches attention.

Its funny how you provided a solution to your own problem. Am I missing something here?

And yes I have the same rasp you speak of and in the same boat. Contemplating ATLP, but my ass is RJ

was wondering, if you get the pre-cats,j-pipe,3rd cat delete, and install it with the stock exhaust, and then later decide you want to get a catback, would you need to reinstall any of the others, or could you just straight isntall the catback without messing with anything else?

I'm sorry, but that is funny.

This is the way the stock exhaust runs: PreCats, J-Pipe(a-pipe), primary cat(3rd cat), [CAT-BACK from here on], resonator. mid muffler, [heres where the piping spilts], main muffler on each side, exhaust tips.

Installing a catback is probably the simplest installation ever. Takes max 45 minutes. Simply unbolt, remove from hangers, hang new exhaust from hangers, rebolt

I've got pre/j-pipe/res test pipe with stock exhaust going on a little less than 2 weeks and I was stoked to read Stillhere's opening remarks. Later, if not too loud for my taste, I'll decide on running straight pipe in place of mid-muffler.

if you decide to do it the sound is only amplified a little but not enough to disatisfy you.

Well after taking your advice Al I swapped exhausts with anarchy[sear] (Phong), I got his totally stock catback.. And he took my deleted mid muff and magnaflow exhaust..

Now it is alot more tame sounding, but I have NO rasp.. Which is what I ultimately wanted.. Very happy with my setup now, and he even liked the sound of the stage two on his whip.. So it worked out well for both of us..

So if you plan on getting precat combo, stock exhaust works just fine..

so you have all stock components from j-pipe back? Or did you cut the stock resonator/mid-muffler out when you had the magnaflow?

I ultimately would like to straight pipe the stock system from test pipe up to stock twin muffler packs, but want to hear myself think in the cabin and def want to avoid the dreaded rasp. I did screaming mufflers when I was a kid and it was cool for about a week, then I felt like a major douche coming at 3am when I let everyone in the neighborhood I got home safely.

....still waiting. I am debating ATLP quad exhaust or precat deletes. I already have ATLP j-pipe, RV6 resonated test pipe and stage 3 exhaust mod.

i was told by someone else that the pre-cat deletes would gain power mainly at the top end and if i wanted low end torque that i should stick with the J-Pipe and the test pipe on a stock exhaust.
