I've been dealing with transmission issues with this vehicle for a while. First the VTM-4 light kept coming on so I replaced the sensor in the rear differential. It seemed to solve the problem for a while. Also it was hard to get the shift lever to engage in D5. Had to pull it down toward D4 to get it in gear. I adjusted the shifter control on the side of the transmission which made it a little better but not great. Now in D5 while driving normally it seems to periodically slip out of gear. The RPMs jump from around 2000 to 3500 or 4000 then right back in gear again. No problem if you are D4. I've done some reading on the forum and I'm thinking it might be a problem with the dual linear solenoid. Am I going in the right direction?
There was a member on another MDX forum who stated had problems with his RPMs jumping up and down and that he solved the problem by replacing the three transmission sensors. Might be worth a try.

Well I just changed the tranny fluid to the import type. The drained fluid was brown. Went to replace the dual solenoid on the top of the transmission and found the on on there was a single solenoid. I had forgotten the previous owner replaced the transmission. Not sure what year it is from. I will try and post some pictures of the transmission so maybe someone can help me out.
After the fluid change it still seems to pop out of gear in D5 and D4.
