owner's manual....it states the TB be changed out when the MID tells you to.
the dealer's tell people to change it at 105k or 7 yrs. there is NOTHING in the OM that states this. this has been a topic of discussion on the 3G TL side a lot and debated endlessly.
you will be most likely fine waiting until your MID tells you to change it. you're at 85k and 6 yrs. you have another year or so if you go by time. even if you waited until year 8 you'll most likely be fine. this is unless you tow a lot of stuff with your MDX in which case you may want to consider it in year 7 as you creep closer to the 105k mark.
if it's any consolation, my TL will be turning 9 this year, i am the original owner and i only have about 58k miles on the car. at the latest i will be waiting until the 10 yr mark to get the TB replaced as the car isn't dialy driven. there have been a lot of TL guys that have waited until the 8 or 9 yr mark with lower mileage. they did not have issues and the old TB looked to still be in good shape. i also understand age can deteriorate the rubber TB. on the flip side there have been high mileage guys that waited until 120k, 150k, and in one case i've read 180k, until they changed their TB. again, there is always risk, but i'm pretty sure acura/honda is conservative in their estimates on when the TB may fail.
ultimately, it's up to you, but you should be fine if you waited for your MID to code 4. assuming you drive 15k a year....you'll be right into the 7th yr heading to year 8. your dealer is trying to upsell you on the TB service early. crack open the owner's manual....there will be no time interval given.

I did mine as preventative maintenance around 75,000 miles. No issue, but because I was doing in advance, I worked out a deal with the dealership to get it done for a reasonable amount. You can try to negotiate while you still have the ability to rather than if it breaks and you have no choice.
An 08 with 85k the belt belt doesn't need to be changed now but it but the time is coming and when the MID pops up with the A4 or B4 then u need to get it done don't put it off because if seen 2 acuras(05 TL and 06 MDX) come in with snapped timing belts at 140k because they put it off.....$700 sounds a lot better than $7000 right lol
