Side Molding Self Install with pictures 2007 & newer
The side molding install was quite simple, no big suprises. First thing to do it wash the doors very well to remove anything that would affect the adhesive strips. I used a clay bar to clean, then alcohol right before I stuck them on.
You will need to run a piece of masking tape along the upper characterline of the door.
Use a black "Sharpie" to make the marks on the door as per the instructions.
Place a piece of tape along the marks you just made.
Clean the area with alochol and follow the driections on attaching the molding (very simple).
This write up was very short but the install didn't call for a lot of detail. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Here are the actual instructions I used:https://hondacuraworld.hostasaurus.c...7/07mdxbsm.pdf

Side Moldings
That's funny!
I have a billet silver model just like yours, and I think the car looks just too plain. Too homogeneously silver, with not a lot going on on the sides, so I figured some side moldings would protect and visually improve the car.
So I was excited to be able to see your photos. I skipped to the last photo to see the job, but my first reaction was: "Why didn't you post any photos WITH the side moldings on!?"
I actually needed to look from the top to see that the moldings were actually installed. I wasn't expecting silver, but black, I guess.
How do you think black would look?
Like your pinstripe. How'd you get that done?

The pin stripe was done at the dealer. It is hand painted.
Also, not sure on the black, it would be the same paint as the black MDX. The color of the moldings are made to match the color of the viehicle. If you were able to find black similar to what the mud flag finish is, I think it would look good. But in my opinion, the gloss black clear coat moldings on a silver MDX wont be so appealing.
