I was wondering the same thing... According to the manual it isnt fun... Not fun at all..
It involves removing parts of the center console and I am not sure how to remove the shifter itself as it does not show it or describe it very clearly.

The boot has to slide down/around the shift lever, after the knob is removed.
Go to an Acura online parts site and shop for a wooden shift knob.
Once you find it, you will see an instruction sheet.

On the drivers side of the console, there is a carpeted, long panel.
Grab it on the gas pedal end and unsnap it. It pulls straight towards the dead foot pedal.
Slide the seat back and unsnap the remaining clips. The long panel is flexible and you'll have to bend it a little to get it out. The last clip, near the center of the seat is the hard one.
I had to use a small pry-bar, which had a bend in it, to get that last snap.
Use a flash light and look at the under side of the boot for screws or clips. When I looked in the service manual and in the "select lever" section of an Acura online parts store, I only saw clips.
Cut the old shifter's boot and reach your hand in and see what it takes to get the base of the boot out. If you have the new replacement, it will help.
Take photos and post them.

^^Helpful, but outside of Acura, nobody makes a replacement, but Shift boot store - RedlineGoods leather shift boots said they will make one if we send the original. I would hate to destroy the original getting it out only to find I can't use it for a template or replace it when I'm done.
