Service Loaner 09' MDX w/ Tech Pckg, buy or not to buy?

Alright guys here is the deal, I have the opportunity to get a CPO 09' MDX w/ Tech pckg, but the problem is that it was used as a Service Loaner for 13,400 miles. Its offered at $39,500, got them down to 38,600, but think I can go lower, mileage and loaner reasons....I am a little concerned about the fact that it was a loaner for 13,400 miles. Also planning on trading in 04 TL w/ 108K on it. Talk to me let me know what you all think

If you can get original 4 year/50,000 mile warranty go for it. Otherwise, I would shoot for $38K and a new set of tires. They're still going to make a ton of money. P.S. I don't know how they can be selling it as CPO, as it has never been titled and/or previously owned.

Go for it!

as long as it isn't damaged inside & out its a great opportunity. These vehicles have really good reliability and since its the dealers car it has been properly serviced.

^Their loaner cars actually have to be titled/owned by the dealership. They don't just keep them owned to Acura, it's a dealer expense. They bill Acura warranty for the loaners.

Sounds ok to me. As long as everything checks out ok. Just go through it very carefully. Even if it does have the 7/100k warranty, you don't want to buy a headache.

I ask out of curiosity. But from reading the forums on edmunds. A new tech mdx can be had for 39k quite easily it seems? I keep track of the Mdx for my parents(in need of a new suv). I think 13k+ miles is easily a years worth of driving. I'm 100% you can get a new one in the 40k range, why not just get a new one?

The reason I really push for new, and i NEVER go for service loaners is because, I admit, I push them hard. I def. dont abuse it, but I know too many others who do. And when you do that in its early life, I just dont trust others. I know some have said, since its a service loaner, they take better care of maintaining it. i have to disagree, quiten often i've told a lot of dealers, oh the ailgments off badly, noise etc. A few weeks later, i go back in to have my car serviced for whatever reasons, and the same loaner car, has the same problems. Its happened at more than one dealership/brands...def. not implying this is what all dealers are like. but for this fact alone, i stay clear.

I wouldn't do it. To put it into perspective I paid 39,000 for a BRAND NEW 2009 w/Tech Package. It had something like 7 miles on it when I bought it.

In fact, I was going to purchase a used one, but they hold value so well it just didn't make sense.

I only was able to get them down 800.00 from $39,450.00! A CPO 13,400 mile MDX w/ Tech package w/ 13,300 miles on it, I AM BLOWN AWAY!!! ARROGANCE!!! "we can get more for this vehicle at an AUCTION!!""That is what they said...

They must be immune to the horrible car market!

Besides their arrogance, I don't think I would buy a loaner. How well do you treat loaners and rentals?

its BS like that, which leaves me no sympathy for dealers. Ive been watching mdx prices for over a year, last year when there were a glut of mdx, and high gas prices. An aggressive buyer could get an mdx base for around 32.5 and tech for 36ish. This year those kind of deals are hard to be had, but I know 39k can be had with relative ease.

It's amazing how they can justify 13k miles as if its nothing...simply becaise its...'never been titled"....or its a demo, brand new!! Honestly if i were you, dont even bother with this dealer, they thought they could find a sucker in you to take it at that price, and when they insisit they can only do 50-100, its there trick to convince you your getting a good deal.

Funny side story, over the past two weeks, ive been looking to get a new RL, i said wat the heck, odds of buying at this dealer(45mins from my house) are slim, i went with the "ohh, msrp, great deal look"......they ate it up!!! The guy told me how they can't keep up demand for the RL, usually go above msrp, giving me deal of lifetime. even threw in a free oil change. I never said a word, just gave the impression I didnt know much. After his 15minutes of utter disgusting lies, I went off on him. He literally shit in his pants, came back, no joke, 5minutes later, completely different guy. Wants to sell me a base RL for 38.9k. about 8k off msrp. I laughed and walked out. If he hadn't treated me like a fool, I probably would have written him a check for an RL, if it had tech package. but there greed always comes first.

Wait until the end of the month and see if it's still there. They are more likely to unload it at a lower price to hit their numbers.
