Ive had a problem for a few months where the rear hatch on my 07 MDX base model wouldn't open. I replaced the entire locking/latch mechanism and it worked for two days. Now it won't open again and all I can think of is that I'm losing it in a ground somewhere or its shorting out. Has anyone had a similar issue? I'm mechanically inclined and want to start prodding with my multimeter and figure out where the problem is but I'm hoping someone can at least point me in the right direction of where to orient my search. Ive heard of the infamous drivers door sub harness problems, could that be causing it? I know about the drivers door harness, could that affect the trunk? Everything else works great with 180,000 miles. Any help is appreciated.
I had a problem with my 2004 but I think your 2007 is a different design. My issue was with the handle in the rear hatch not returning to the proper place so it wouldn't work unless you first pushed it forward to engage the lock then pulled it back to release. Got worse and worse and eventually got really stuck. I read someplace to spray wd-40 through the seams around the handle into the interior spaces you could reach from there to cover the mechanism and spring by the handle. Sounded a little lame to me but it worked!! And has been fine for several years now.
That's one of the first things I checked. Turns out I have some broken pins at the rear relay juntion box. I'm getting low voltage to the trunk area. If you want t

This is most likely due to a very common water leak with these MDX's. The roof/windshield moldings need to be removed and the roof body seams need to be resealed with Sean sealer or window urethane is what we use. Also the tailgate trim pieces on the door jamb need to be removed and the clip holders need to be sealed as well as the seams the run down from top to the tail lights. Hopefully this makes sense!
I'd also inspect both front dude box areas in the kick panels for signs of a water leak. Those fuse boxes ain't cheap. Especially the driver's side one because it's also the MICU.
