Need a diagnosis on this engine sound...
I am getting this high pitch sound at times when the car is about 20-30 min into my journey up its coming from the right side of the X. How can i upload the sound or video?
Here is a link to the video and sound. I visited my local dealer last week and they said its normal which i find hard to believe. The sound is coming from the left passenger side front. I just purchased the MDX a week ago from another dealer.

Yes i was pressing it a bid....it gets louder when i do but its clearly a sound that comes on when i am about 20 min into my drive and you can hear it when i turn louder at times. The dealer is saying its normal for there MDX. I am still under warranty until OCTOBER 2016 but they don't seem to think its anything i guess until it fails when i out.

DONT rely on the dealer.....
physically check.
if fluid is at full line, you might need to rebuild the pump, as there are rubber seals that do wear out over time.
or you can buy a new one
the dealers do not investigate....so, if it shows full and your steering is good, they wont investigate further.
however, that whining is a classic tale tell sign of the power steering pump going bad.
there are no ill effects, other than maybe your steering wheel getting harder and harder to turn.

I thought a bumper to bumper warranty would cover the pump, but if it doesn't, instead of immediately spending money on the pump repair, try this...
1 tablespoon of Downy Fabric Softener in to the power steering reservoir.
Drive around town, turning left and right, allowing the softener to circulate thru your steering system and the whining noise will stop.

Try bleeding air from the reservoir
I had this problem recently and my mechanic saw air bubbles in the reservoir. I was able to resolve it by bleeding the air out of the system. To do this, park so that you're facing uphill and slowly turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, over and over. As the air goes to the top, the fluid level will drop. Add more power steering fluid and keep turning the wheel until all of the bubbles and the noise are gone, then be sure the fluid level is correct. I was able to put the front wheels on snow and to reduce friction on the tires.
If the bubbles/whining noise return, you have an air leak. Hopefully, it would just be the o-ring (seal) that needs to be replaced. I'm still at the stage of waiting to see if the whining noise returns, so I haven't tried to replace the o-ring.

Finally after 5 different attempts to replicate the sound…it happened today! Its covered under warranty dealer ordered the pump today :-)
That's great!!!! But do make sure that they properly cover the accessory belt to avoid getting the PS fluid on there.
Mine was replaced under warranty prior to me purchasing it as a CPO and I have been having issues with a loud chirping sound on very hot days. 6months in during summer of last year I took it to my local dealer for service to notify them of the issue. They found the belt had a bit of oil on it, and the Acura tech who serviced it from a different (purchasing dealer) allowed the oil to get on the belt creating the chirp/squeak sound. If it were to return then we can replace it and note it under your account (under warranty).
About 3 days ago (already out of basic warranty) we had high temps in SoCal and the sound came back. Called dealer and told them that the sound has come back bad and to schedule an appointment to get it replaced. As it sound horrible and annoying, something a 48k car should not be doing.
So that is where I am at with my SUV, all because the PS pump was installed without taking every precaution. I don't have a problem paying to buy the belt but I want to make sure the motor is quiet as can be and not having squeaky sounds.
