Nav/Climate control replacement

I did post this in the Electrics sub already....I don't know why this keeps directing me to the 2G sub....

Has anyone used the refurbished DVD drive units (for the navigation system, under the passenger seat) from fleabay? Mine is toast, it's not the end of the world, but $250 vs $900 is worth asking. I've tried cleaning the reader.

I guess maybe a better couple questios are...

1. Do the serial numbers need to match with the replacement unit?

2. Which years would be compatible with a 2004 MDX?

Thanks, Robert

you can get a used unit off ebay no problem, just make sure they give you the unlock code or the VIN from the car it came from.

same dvd drive as the following per acura:

This is sort of a bump for this thread, or an extension. I replaced the dvd/rom drive, with the correct disk and code. The system is behaving exactly the same as before. Meaning; it's on and active, but the touch screen won't respond to the actual touch.

There are a gazillion threads on this issue. Because of that, it's difficult to filter through them for an actual solution. For the sake of simplicity lets leave the radio out of the conversation.

The system as I understand it is just the dvd/rom drive, the disk, the touchscreen and the wiring. Is that correct? If I've replaced the drive and disk...is the only thing left to replace the touchscreen? Some people have expressed that the wiring is often the problem. Loose or corroded or just shitty connectors.

The question is; what's the next step for me?
