I can't find an MDX specific thread, so I started a new one here. I have posted on a TL thread I found about the same problem (dating back to 2006), but I would like model-specific information if anyone has any.

This past weekend the oval liquid shape appeared in my rear view mirror. I would like to replace it before it gets worse and explodes.

Why hasn't there been a recall with all the people that have had serious problems? Everyone should have been reporting it to NHTSA, they investigate all complaints, and they say there is no minimum number of claims needed in order to have a recall.

I have 2004 MDX 5DR Touring model with Navigation System, and I don't know if that affects the model number of the replacement mirror, or the labor involved in removing and installing the new one.

My question is, how do I know if the replacement I get is a safer model? I can't get a definitive answer from the Acura dealer, they tell me they don't even know if it's still made by Magna, since they have none in stock right now.

Does anyone know what the new model number should be?
