MDX Clutch Lock-up and Software Update

Does anyone know the details of MDX 2010 - 2011 trans judder vibration and the advised software update letter from Acura ?
Has anyone felt this in the 20 - 60 mph range ?

Never felt it, but I did get the update letter. Will probably just take it in for that anyway because I was planning to take it in for the low battery warning issue. Got a letter for that too, haha.

I did feel it but in mine I only felt it when I was taking a left turn and accelerating. It felt like the tires skipped along the pavement. It really wasn't that bad for me. I also had the surging issue from the torque converter and that was taken care of with a new torque converter being installed.

Kool - but software update is kinda like saying medicine w/o stating what it really does.
Does any know what specific things are addressed by this vague update term and specific to AT Judder, Torque Convertor, and Low Battery ???
I will go to dealer Thursday for these and a couple other issues.
Just wanted to know upfront more than what vague update term and letters adress ..

The clutch lockup sofware update changes the times the gears change {Quicker shift change time}.
The best way to test is going steep uphill at 20 + MPH.
Seems to work better after I did the test hill to my home.
IMO - a real winner update.

The Low Battery Voltage update fixes a false over use signal from your power lift gate.

I had it done.....dropped car off, took a loaner.....drove 10 minutes away.....one hour later they said it would be ready in one hour......showed up, and it was done.

I'm guessing it takes an hour.

Took 2 hours for me but that was both Trans and Battery software updates.
The hill up to my home really tells me the shift points are now quicker and faster {lower RPMS and less time changing}.

Got it done on my 2012 MDX ENT/ADV they did the software update which takes care of the battery low indicator as well as the tranny software update to help out the shift points so you dont feel any vibration. They also did a Tranny fluid flush and refill which was covered with the recall also. It took about an hour and right away I noticed a difference. The vibration that they were talking about is when you first accelerate from a stop the tranny shifts to early and causes a slight vibration due to the fact that it shifts to a lower gear at slower speeds which to me felt like it was too soon for the actual speed of the vehicle which made the vehicle feel like it was struggling to get through the gears. Which to me it actually bothered me cause we had a 2007 MDX and it did not shift that early and actually shifted through the gears alot smoother and more precise. Now that this has been taken care of on the 2012 MDX it actualy feels 100x better with the beefier engine. If you havent gotten it done you should it will feel a world of difference!

Glad you think it better but ...
the shift points affected per the Acura notice letter only are in effect when 20 + to 60 MPH and was for 2010 and 2011 models only.

Did a 30K maintenance on my 2010 MDX/ADV few weeks ago together with the software update. The right next day I did a round trip between Austin and Dallas and sadly the MPG only tops at 18 based on the trip computer. There was not much local driving, so it was just highway cruising speed between 60 - 75MPH. Three month ago I made the same trip and MPG tops around 21. So, either this software update or the maintenance has affected the MPG big time. I use premium 93 gasoline all the time. Now my mixed local+highway MPG averaged only around 16. Has anyone noticed any MPG impact after the software update?

Yes! We had the software update for the 3rd bank converter on our 07 MDX and did/do see a decline. What I think I have noticed, but the dealer is saying is normal / common are the shift points. I only have a 5 speed transmission (compared to your 6 speed), but driving around town it sits in 4th gear until we hit 45 MPH and if I manually shift to 5th and the speed drops below 42 or 43 MPH, it shifts back to 4th and we watch the RPMs climb and our MPG drop.

I can't explain why but I also noticed that I can't speed up as rapidly as it used to be when passing cars on highways or speeding up to get into highwayd. There seems to be an added delay in switching to the desired gear either up or down. It makes me press the pedal harder which probably waste more gas as a result.

Suspect the shift points may have changed . You may want to discuss with your dealer to see if the transmission's contol module was cleared. Does it downshift as quickly as it used to?

According to the TSB, they put a center punch above the ninth digit of the VIN after completing the TSB. Does anyone know where in the engine compartment that would be located? I just bought my CPO 2011 MDX Tech/Ent less than a week ago. I want to check real quick if it was done. The dealership is closed today. Thanks.

Could you explain what do you mean by "if the transmission's control module was cleared"? Yes, downshift is not as quickly as before. I feel that when I press the pedal, I have wait close to a second before I hear the engine revs up.
