Looking at specific used 2007-8 MDXs. Comments please...

Looking at used 2G MDXs in my area. Would like your thoughts about these, as far as pricing and condition. How much do you think I could reasonably talk the dealers down to based on your experience? And before you ask, no, I'm not giving up my CTS-V, I just want a nice luxo cruiser with some ground clearance for the winters and I miss SH-AWD from my 2G RL. TIA! I'm also considering Pilots, since we own one already, and this would save me $8-10k. However....SH-AWD FTW!

2007 Tech/Ent, $20,500, 94k miles--click

2008 Tech/Ent, $23.8k, 72k miles-click

CPO 2007, $23.9k, 64k miles-click

2007 Tech/Ent, $23.9k, 88k miles-click

I'd go CPO just for the added extra peace of mind.

the two gray ones have the roof rails already, the black one has the sport running boards (wonder if it has the sport suspension in it, sorry didn't look over the specs in detail), the white CPO has no navi.

so is navi must have?

i would say CPO, but i want navi. pics really don't do the condition of the vehicle justice. i'd say go with the 08...just based on price and mileage. since you had an RL...you know about the 105K service.

the high mileage 07's will go for low to mid 20's. the 08's usually go for high 20's to low 30's.

so based on what's on paper...the 08 is a pretty good deal. makes me wonder why its priced so low...

when i bought mine, it was priced well below CPO retail but just above avg retail. was able to get them down to below retail. it seems that dealers are pricing their used inventory on the internet with fairly reasonable pricing and fairly close to what their bottomline would be...depends on the dealer of course. so getting the price down another $2K may not be realistic. crunch your numbers for possible bottomline ranges and it should give you an idea of what they might make. of course you won't know what the worth of the cars you are considering until you look at them. make sure the DVD player works...when i was shopping i looked at one and the DVD player was on the fritz.

Thanks for the comments.

Navi is not a must-have. Based on my experience with the RL, though, I'd take it if the price were right.

Yup, I am aware of the 105k service and would probably price that in if I negotiated over the one with 94k miles.

I am considering the CPO for the peace of mind.

I made the mistake of talking about this with my wife. Her first question was: "So are you getting rid of the Cadillac?" She is obviously not a car geek. If I did, I'd have enough cash from selling it to buy any of these MDXs free and clear, and have no car payment for the first time in years. Mighty tempting. The problem is, I like the Cadi and intend to keep it.

Any case, will be test driving the ones closest to me in the next week or so--they tend to go fast around here.

used MDX's only seem to hang around for a 2-3 weeks on dealer lots, if they are in good condition and everything is in good workign order. others that hang out on the market...carfax is questionable or when people actual look its not what it seems. the CPOs seem to go a lot faster.

the navi in the MDX compared to my TL...different...almost nicer. takes a little getting used to the "joystick" for the newer navs vs the touch screen in the TL. since my MDX is the the travel car...navi was must have.

the cadi...its a beast. nice toy in the arsenal of vehicles in the stable. you like many on here...we like cars...and its not a cheap obsession. hell neither is my hobby.

good luck on the hunt.

Looks like the CPO one is sold already, or the link you provided is no good. That should help narrow it down for ya!

I would pick the grey one with black interior. I hate tan interior, and I hate the maintenance of black paint (so there goes the other 2 choices for me). I think they are priced pretty well, compared to where I am anyway. Never hurts to negotiate though. I would expect them to take off at least $1000 from the listed price because they price every car with some room to discount it.

I recently Bought a 08 MDX - Tech/Ent Package + Power Tailgate.

Here is the breakdown of price.

Base price: $24,300
Lic/Title/Doc Fees: $499
Tax & Reg: $1921
Total: $26,720

Dealer put in new Front & Rear brake pads, Front axle & Front-end alignment. The tires have 10/32 tread depth. The 2nd row & 3rd row floor mats are missing and there are few scratches which could be fixed with some buffing.

I need the following done:
Transmission service: $99
Air Filters: $50
Waxing: $50

so I am looking at a total of $28k on road. Yes, I know I paid over the top but the red/beige color combo is what mrs wanted and thats what she gets if not for that I would say you can get a MDX with 45k CPO for about $28k. This is in ChiBurbs.
