Is it just me or what? I park well away from anyone else ...
Is it just me or what? I park well away from anyone else to help prevent the opportunity of door dings. (I was successful for four years without one with my TSX.) I come out of the store and my MDX is surrounded with cars. Sometimes they are nice ones, I guess whose owners have similar thoughts, but other times they are pretty beat up cars.
It is like people think that your vehicle is lonely and they want to keep it company.
I'm still loving my new MDX. It is amazing and will be a great touring vehicle.
One petty little peeve, I find the steering wheel a little too smooth. I almost feel like wearing driving gloves.

I have the same problem! I usually park far from the entrance to the place hoping no one will park next to me. Usually some huge SUV or the like parks right next to me though.
I've already got 2 dings on my MDX in the few months that I've owned the car.

Another thread that does not disclose the year of MDX. The 2010 has a thick soft leather bound wheel which, I understand, was increased in thickness from previous years. The 2010 also has an optional wood steering wheel, I do not know if it would fit your model year though.

I'm with ya there. I always park way out. I did come out once to see a door ding on my 2010 Tundra (the culprit had since moved his/her car). I took it to one of the paintless dent repair places and 30 minutes and $50 later, the dent was gone and the truck looked good as new. Its nice to know that IF I do get a door ding, there is an inexpensive way to fix it.

I'm with you. I park as far away as possible to prevent door dings and scratches.
I've not had the same opinion about the steering wheel - feels fine in my hands.

My MDX is a 2010. The steering wheel is hard, smooth and a little slick. I'm not trying to compare it to my TSX, but the TSX was softer and grippier.
I may look at getting a steering wheel leather cover if it looks good, or try driving gloves. (or just suck it up and get used to it)
I really love the MDX, it is like being on the bridge of a starship and as I get used to it, it can really perform. I am still babying it a little still.
The gas mileage isn't what I expected yet, but I think that happens with new vehicles. My old TSX actually got better mileage than posted. We are going to do a ton of travelling the next couple of years as we explore what we want to do and where we want to do it. It should be pretty exciting.

Yes, the wheel is slick. I wish it were thicker. I try to park as far away as possible, but it seems the MDX attracts POS cars for some reason. I often wonder if they park by me to see if it is open so they can steal something.

That's why I hate going to places like Crappy Tire and Costco.
Last weekend we parked far away from the entrance with a dozen spots around our MDX and some dingbat parked right next to us. ARGH!

It is very frustrating. This is why I take the extra step and try to park in a corner spot, to further minimize the chances of getting dinged.
