2007 MDX front console compartment heating up?

Hello,

I'm a newcomer here and recent new owner of a base 2007 MDX.

We've been driving around past few days and our front console compartment is getting warm/hot on the sides after 15-20 minutes of driving.

The passenger side gets semi-hot while the driver side is fairly warm. Inside the compartment is also warm/hot although not melting (did not try melting candles though they might after awhile).

There was nothing in the TSBs about this issue and I doubt this is a "feature", so I am wondering has anyone else experienced this and what would be the fix for it?

Are you running heat at the time? If there are vents for the back seat floor area make sure they are open. The air goes thru the console to get in the back seat area.

It was a nice day outside so we had windows down and climate controls were off (we double checked).

I did notice the vents under the seats but I did not check if they are open or closed (it's news to me you can open/close them).

Same issue here, I might have the dealer take a look since I have an appointment for something else.

We are taking our MDX to Acura dealer this Saturday so I'll report back if/what they find.

I think it's important to get the technician to take a look at it (feel the area) right away before the vehicle cools down, as obviously the issues comes up only after the vehicle has been on the road for 15-20 minutes.

Well, after going to Acura service, they told me it's normal that area heats up because it routes heating/cooling for the back seats. Sigh, so bad design I suppose.

On the other hand I also found out that my speakers pop pretty bad when power door locks are used, so have to go back again, probably for an audio unit replacement.

Exactly what they told me.

Your speaker pop is created by interference from the door actuator, and yes, they need to replace the audio unit.
