I recently went through this. Calling the dealer was NO help. They said I'd have to bring it in and pay $80 for them to remove it to get to the serial number.

Some googling let me to the answer.

Hold down 1 and 6 on the radio, as you power the car on. Some numbers will come up. Write them down. The digits (not letters) are your S/N.

Then go to the acura website, where there's a link to get your code if you enter the VIN and S/N.

Hope that helps.

Register your vehicle on acura.com. Once you do that your code should be on there.

You can take it to the dealer, but the will charge you up the ass for this. As far as I know it's the only way to do it for free. Just pull it out, save yourself some money and get it done!

i think the code was changed because the code i got from my serial # doesn't work and when you enter a wrong serial # it tells you that the serial # is wrong.

MDX code

The only way I know to retrieve the code without taking it to the dealer is online. Get the SN for the radio as stated above, the NAV code you have to get the serial # from the dvd drive under the passengers seat. Its pretty easy to take out there are only two screws. Once you get that enter it online and it should give you the codes.

hit the 1 and 6 and press power and that will give you the serial number. the radio must be off first then press the buttons and it will scroll 4 #s the 4#s.

Check the glove box and the engine bay fuse box for stickers with the sn on them. When the cars are delivered to the dealers from Acura, they come with 2 sets of stickers for the radio code/navi code card. Many dealers will put the extra stickers in the glove box or on the inside of the fusebox cover in the engine bay.

If Acura tries to charge you for retrieving the radio code, call the Acura client services number, corporate will go apeshit. They can and will charge you for labor to remove the radio/nav to retrieve the serial number, but if you have the sn and can prove the car is yours (bring your registration) they should retrieve the code free of charge.

Typically they either stick it to the outside edge of the glove box / engine bay fuse box / near battery or in your owner's manual packet. It should be a white sticker with two numbers, the one on the top should be your radio code.

Some PDI techs are lazy though and just through the extra stickers away.

If you do have the stickers and the codes aren't marked Navi or radio remember that radio codes only use the numbers 1 through 6 (b/c it is entered via the radio preset buttons) Navi code uses 0-9 and is either punched in on the navi sceen for touch screen navi or dialed in via the interface dial for non touch screens.

Call the dealer where it was purchased and they'll be able to give it to you

Awesome. Thank you.
I bought a 2006 MDX today (picking up tomorrow), and this is the first thing that I will do.
