How frequently do you use voice commands?

Do you mostly use voice commands or do you tend to use the physical buttons more often in your MDX?

I've really been trying to get the hang of the voice commands but I find myself most often just reaching for the button. Some of the commands are a bit lengthy and you have to be on a certain screen for them to work. Thinking I just need more practice.

I'm a little disappointed that Acura/Honda hasn't improved upon this. I had a 2005 Accord and the commands/learning capability pretty much hasn't changed (at least with my wife's 2011 MDX). I now have a 2013 Audi A6 and the capabilities are much, much better. You don't have to say an exact phrase...it listens for keywords and guesses what you're trying to say (accurately). The biggest thing is the voice dialing. In the MDX, you have to create tags. On my Audi, it just uses voice recognition directly from the imported phone book.

Speaking of tags on the phone numbers... I can't figure out how to get it to call by saying one of the tag names. I'm guessing I have to be on a certain screen and say a certain string of words. Any idea how to do it?

I have a TL and the only time it was used was at the dealership to pair my phone and the sales associates were guiding me through it. LOL! I haven't had time to go through the manual and try out the commands, let alone memorize them. I need a cheat sheet behind my visor!

i really don't use the voice commands in either car. not that i didn't want to learn....i'm more of a kinesthetic type of person. i like playing with buttons, plus it's faster than trying to talk to the damn car. lol.

the only thing i use is the HFL (assuming the stupid thing doesn't drop my phone ).

Ditto here on the HFL.

My RL has a single command for "Climate Control Full Automatic" where the system is enabled and the temperature is set to 72.
My 2010 MDX requires two commands for the same thing:
"Climate Control Automatic"
"Driver Temperature 72".

The RL command is not recognized in the MDX so the temperature is a separate command. By the time I have used the voice commands I have missed half a song and it is much faster to press the buttons.
The only thing worse than voice commands is a touch screen. I much prefer the mouse (jogwheel) approach with discreet buttons for functions. A lot of new cars are going for less buttons and the MDX is hit for having a center stack that is loaded with buttons but I like the MDX option.

I recently learned how to enter addresses by voice, and it's incredibly easy...way easier than spelling with the buttons.
Half the time the car doesn't understand what I'm saying, and this is aggravated by my thick accent, so I don't use them all that often.
I don't get the point of creating voice tags, when the names are already entered in the phonebook....My 07 RDX didn't have the import phonebook feature, so I understood that you needed the tags, but not in the MDX....I can't wait for Siri to make it into our cars.

I've never used the voice commands in either of my Acura's.
I just prefer the buttons.
