Hey. I want to buy new black wheels for my 2010 MDX. I am concerned, will the Tire Pressure Monitoring System sensors work with any rims?

How can I tell what wheels are compatable with the Acura TPMS? I'd probably stick with the same tires. I just want blacked out wheels to go with my black MDX.

I thought I would try here before talking to a tire shop, dealership.

I have the 19 inch Acura Wheels on my 2011 MDX Advance.
They are Gray Powder Coat Painted and very awesome.
You might consider having yours powder coat painted ...

I have the 2011 black MDX and I'm looking at doing the same 20" black wheels, but with a chrome lip.. 275/45-20. How did yours come out?

The TPMS can be made to work with ANY rim that you can buy. It can be as simple as screwing new sensors into the valve stem while the tire is off or as tough as buying some round straps and strapping them to the rim:

Here's the screw in method that works on 90% of wheels. This is how the factory TPMS sensors are mounted:


and here is the method to mount them if you get forged rims or something where it's not possible to do that with the TPMS. You can buy large straps and strap the sensor on and use a regular valve stem:



And you said you want some black wheels, any particular style such as Mesh wheels, straight spokes, concave, Lips, etc? Size?

Did you have a particular price range or specific qualites in a wheel?

IE do you want to go with a size like 20's or 22's?

A good suggestion for some good wheels for Honda/Acura is RonJonSportDesign.com and Tirerack.com is a great place to start looking but their selection is limited. Also look on various wheel shops and company websites such as Asanti, DPE, HRE, IForged, 360 Forged, Interad Forged, Etc and try to figure out a style you like.

Most of the time they will have a SUV section for you to browse in.
