GPS Update - Database and Software

[I posted the message below under a poll on the TL section of this site - reposting below because it may be specific to MDX - how do I ask for a post to be moved or deleted? ]

Does anyone have the GPS database version number history?

I am upgrading from: IT002.01.04
to the current as of 03/25/14 Green Disk which is: IT005.04.01

Anyone know how old IT002.01.04 is?

Also on the upgrade order the product # is U3134-1113-310
and the description is: 2014 Green DVD Map Update v8.310.0

I can't find 8.310.0 anywhere else in the car.

Also anyone know anything about the software?

My software version is 1.40.0300

On a 2011 MDX. The NavTeq people who I ordered the update from said there is no software updates included with this map update... that I would have to contact my dealer for such a thing. The dealer doesn't know anything about the software version on the GPS...

Thanks, Dan

i dont believe the nav disc upgrades the software.

the nav disc's only provide new POV's and new streets.
and that's it.

I just purchased a used 11 adv/ent in jan/14 and I ordered a new navi disk in Feb/14. I don't think the previous owner updated the disk because it was a company car lease. It took several hours to fully update everything. Acura sucks at telling you about any changes with each update; but, I am willing to bet that was the original from factory +3 years old software on your 2011. There had to be some software changes or updates during that time?

Before I updated:
Old Database #: IT002.01.04
Old SW version: 1.16.0000

After I updated:
New Database #: IT005.04.01
New SW version: 1.40.0300

I don't remember seeing the v8.310.0 number (wasn't looking for it either).

That's funny, I too just bought a used 11 that was in a fleet :-) Wonder who uses MDX Advanced for a feet vehicle? I was suspecting it was the original but wasn't sure. I didn't capture my SW version before the upgrade... (It is showing 1.40.0300 now).

Well MDXes are common Honda employee leases, and they (whether MDX, Pilot, CRV, etc...) tend to be top of line models. Sadly the only thing Honda associates never get a deal on is the Navi discs.

With my RL, some updates included software updates, but most just POI and maps.

The W Hotel used MDXs for their guest rides in the past. Dunno if they still do though.

When I key in my version 1.30.0100 the site says it doesn't exist...
It is from a 2013 tech.

Are you sure that's the right version? Go through the directions to locate the version in your Acura. Click the "here" in the paragraph just above where you entered the version on their website.

Yes I am sure that is the correct version; I am getting it straight from the car's nav screen.
Tks for the "Here" tip, but this company really deserves an award for pathetic customer service. Not even in the Contact Us section there is a phone or an email address.
The ironic thing is that I am trying to reach out to them to BUY something from them. Imagine when I need real tech support for the product.

Found this. Give it a try if you haven't already.

It was under the MDX menu where it says "year not listed" at the bottom of the years to pick for your Acura.

This may help too.
Is the update map available at my dealership or purchased elsewhere?
Dealerships do not stock these items but may order the disc as a courtesy for you. Replacement and update maps may be ordered online at: www.acuranavi.com
An update disc may also be ordered by calling the Acura DVD Fulfillment Center at 1-888-628-6270. Please note the operators cannot answer detailed technical or coverage questions.

Thanks for the number. I could not find it for the life of me.
I called them and after 20 minutes on hold they were able resolve the problem.

FYI for the update to finish updating after uploading on to the hard drive you have to leave the nav on. At this point you don't have to leave the engine on but at least every hour start up your engine for a few minutes.

I received the disc today and it blew my mind that Acura requires the engine to be on for 30 minutes during the update process. In addition to burning fuel and the car overheat, in NYC it is illegal to be idling for more than 3 minutes! Why on earth couldn't the process be done just in the contact position?? I cannot imagine that a hard drive spinning can drain a battery.
In addition, the instruction book says that the whole updating process will take 5 hours in the background. It is insane!
