Fog Light color

Hey guys !

I just had switched out my fog lights ( h11 ) from my mdx with PIAA 4000k bulbs and I'm kinda disappointed with the way it still looks. Don't get me wrong it's an improvement over the yellowish oem fogs but I really wanted something brighter Any suggestions aside from putting in an hid kit for the fogs ?

TIA

If you really want something brighter than a halogen HID may be the best, cheapest way to go. How come you don't want to HID them? Maybe do your headlights while you're at it? We have a vendor that sells kits pretty cheap on here.

Thanks 55 !

I'm so hesitant about installing hids because i'm weary about the dealer saying it's not warrantied and this issue and that yada yada yada uughh so i was hoping for a simple plug and play solution ? But if the hid kit is best then i may have to go that way ?? Thanks again !!

Just get plug and play kits, you can unplug them and remove them very quickly and put the stock bulbs back in if anything happens to go wrong and you need to bring it into the dealer

If you want fog lights to be of use in reduced visability or you wish to increase viewing at night then you should reduce the color temp. Fog lights are typically amber for a reason and all the obsession to "go blue" is not helping the cause. High color temp looks very bright and is typically obnoxious to the oncoming but it does not help your ability to see. It is like most fashion statements: very hip but useless.

That is the French way of doing it. A few years ago ALL cars had to have yellow headlights. If you took your car into France then you applied the yellow filter over the headlamp housing.

Let's see those pics please. I am also debating on what to use, I just want something to match my headlights, not a fan of something to bright that causes oncoming traffic to go blind.

i just got my order yesterday from RVinyl and was surprised how long it was ahem ahem about ummmm ...... 12 inches covering both the DRLs and the Fog lights !! For some reason i had thought the covers were only for the Fogs and not the DRLs so i was expecting it to be half the size but was ummm pleasently surprised wink wink !

Hope to apply this week before it gets too cold up here and will post pictures.

My friend and i had applied one of the rviynls on and hmm it didnt look at i had hope it to. It seemed too ' yellow ' and didnt look right where my mdxis black and the headlights were clear / white then the yellow housings below suucks but i decided not to go with the yellow and simply pulled it off ......oh well ??

Hmmmm maybe i'll just go with the hid kit on the fogs for that clean bright white ..... what do you think 5000k or something higher like 8000k ?? TIA

Other than stock, what's a safe color temp? Is 3k still yellowish or how different is it from stock. I like nolonyc's 5k set, but I'm concerned about visibility.

First go to an image hosting site such as imgur.com, upload your picture there, copy the url link to the image and put it between the [img] tags

Aw, sucks to hear! Personally I'd go for 5000k. It will look much more like stock, increase light output, and clean!

This is 5000k in my headlights and 3000k fogs in my 04 MDX.

I agree that the fogs in yellow light up the road and, in fog, they are useful but in normal driving I am looking way further ahead than they light up so I find them useless. The other aspect of these lenses is that at least half of the light is illuminating the adjacent lanes which I'm sure that your fellow motorists approve of but to the owner of the car it is again useless.

Okay i've decided to in deed go the HID kit route with the fogs so if you can kindly direct me the right way regarding one of our vendors ? I'm hoping to go at least 5000k for a kit .... too bright ??

I purchased the HID kit from www.v-leds.com. I got the 5K H11 premium kit. I installed them myself, it took me about an hour to do both sides. The driver's side is tight with space compared to the passenger's side. Yea your right I'm located in the Bronx part of NYC.

PS: If you order from www.v-leds.com try putting this code in: XENON. I got 15% off last time on a bunch of other led bulbs.
