Fast Fuel consumption

I just bought petrol and drove like 1 Km only for the fuel gauge on the dashboard to show almost half of the fuel gone.... For a consumption that I would normally use for 3 days.... Before now the car has been sluggish in the morning but picks up after driving few hundred meters ....This still persists but never consumed the amount of petrol it did today..
mdx Acura 2007 has a mileage of 100k km..
What could be the issue here

Sure!!! Trying to get clues,so when the mechanic says A or B I would know if he is on track or not.. The level of expertise in the area I live is limited ...

right, however, the info you have provided has not gleaned any clues..

the car really needs to be looked at and diagnosed.
could be a faulty 02 sensor, but at this point i'm guessing and would be wrong of me to suggest such a thing, unless you want to throw money at parts.

a mechanic will need to hook up a scan-tool to look at fuel trims and 02 sensor readings.
