Hi All -- just picked up a CPO'd 2011 MDX Advance CPB/ebony with 62k miles. This will be the wife's ride as she drives a lot for work and we can be assured of her safety in New England winters with this car!
I've been reading up on a few concerns, mainly on cost to replace the ADS shocks so went ahead and bought the CPO-wrap warranty. They bundled this with the wheel/tire warranty for $1780. I've owned 4 Honda/Acura products but NEVER purchased any warranty but with all the tech in the Advance model wanted the piece of mind. I have 60 days to cancel and wanted to get peoples opinions/experience if the extended warranty for 2 yrs/100k at this price-point is needed. Right now I'm covered for 1 year with the CPO.
Obviously, without knowing how previous 2 owners drove this vehicle it's a tough call and speaking to the techs they shared in their experience that should be good for 100k+.
As far as the extended warranty, for the Advance model it is recommended to get the Acura Care Extended Warranty since those ADS shocks will go out and cost you to replace.
I just picked up a Tech model CPO with 36k miles and I decided to skip the extended warranty because it didn't have all the safety electronic tech that the Advance model has. They offered $1900 for 5yr./100k miles.
The price seems high for only 2 years/100k miles, but then again, the minimum requirements for the extended warranty must be below 50k miles and no older than 4 years old. So the higher miles you have the higher the price for the warranty.
So my opinion is stay with the Extended warranty, only if it's through Acura Care. Some dealers will sell you 3rd party warranties that are not going to cover certain items.
I purchased my 11 Adv in Jan/14 without an Extended warranty. My Magnetic front struts went out over the summer; but, I was still under the basic warranty for the repair (save me maybe +$2500). I went ahead and purchased an Acura Extended warranty in Nov/14 before the basic 4/50,000 ended. There doesn't seem to be any pattern for the shock/stuts to die. This was the only reason I got the warranty.
Congrats on your purchase. I see you purchased at Prime - I've tried to buy there twice and wound up buying elsewhere because of price and general ineptness. In terms of warranty we bought one for our 07 MDX and made out like bandits. We didn't have the ADS shocks you have but had a number of other things go out and as I said definitely made out.
For some peace of mind, myou can cross shop your AcuraCare warranty cost at:
Bernardi Honda (Natick) - have purchased two there
Hyannis Honda (Hyannis)
Saccucci Honda (Middletown, RI) - Another AZ member has purchased 5 there.
As you may or may not know these are all brick and mortar dealers and sell both Honda and Acura warranties on line. I purchased both of mine via the web /e-mail. Worst case scenario, you get a better price and get Prime to price match and refund the difference.

Reason: Typo
These advanced shocks do go bad at random times, yrs, miles.
No pattern.
You can always swap to the regular non advance shocks as well. In my opinion these ride better and are so much cheaper and less prone to go bad.
Who will know right?
