Driver window screech

Anyone else have this problem? Opening the driver side window (and to a lesser extent some of the other windows) there is a big "screech" sound. When I took my car in for first service the dealership said the window was dirty...they cleaned it and that stopped the problem for a short bit but now it is screeching again. I've owned a lot of cars, and these cars have all had dirty windows, but none have ever screeched like this.

I did a search and saw that there was a service bulletin on this for prior year models...mine is a 2010.

This is a known problem with the TL and TSX's. The TSB to fix it is to replace the window tubing and motor. Ask the dealer to look up the tsb

I have it, front passenger window

I have the same problem on the passenger side. I, too, took it in in week 1, and they said it was some residual glue and cleaned it for me. Not sure when it started up again.

The funny thing is, I kinda like it. When I use the remote key to open the windows from a distance, I hear my MDX screaming for me.

I'll look into the service bulletin next time I take it in. Thanks!

Wow, I thought I was the only one having this issues. I've complained twice about this and both times dealer told me that unless they could hear it for themselves that they could not take the door apart to diagnose. I had no idea this was a common issue.

Anyway, I took my car in for a B13 service today and complained about the screetching driver's window for a 3rd time and this time they replaced the weather stripping. Hopefully that helps. And OP, yes, for me it usually happens when window is dirty.

Bumping this old thread of mine. I've now had the window screeching problem worked on 3 times. They've done the service bulletin work twice and the problem has returned shortly afterward in each case. Not sure what I'll do if it continues to happen...a car like this shouldn't have this problem.

That's annoying but if I loved everything else about the car I could live with it if I had to. I agree no one should have to "live with it" on a car like this but in this day and age of oil burning engines, self-destructive transmissions and ghosts in the electrical system (all real problems I've been reading about with Acura's competition Audi, BMW and Mercedes) not a huge deal to me. I hope they can fix the problem as it's a pretty silly problem (for them to fix - not for you to live with) to make a customer feel unhappy about.

Be persistent, even if it means replacing most of the door and window parts.

There was a TSB for '07 and '08 MDXs: SB 08-033 "Front Windows Screech or Squeak When Going Up or Down". The fix is to replace the door glass inner weatherstrip (the rubber wiper-like strip next to your shoulder) part number 72375-STX-A01. But you've got to pull the inner door panel off to get to it (and risk destroying the clips/pins). Before you spend the time and money, try lowering the window all the way and cleaning the strip with windshield washer fluid on a paper towel, then applying some rubber protectant like ArmorAll.

Thanks...they've done the TSB twice to date (under warranty)...it seems as though that fix is only temporary. Hence my frustration.

My drivers door (04 MDX) did it occasionaly. Now every time I wash the truck I make sure I clean the weather stripping (just a quick swipe with a moistened rag) and I haven't had any further problem.
