Brake Lamp & Back-up Camera Issue
Brake Lamp & Back-up Camera Issue
Hi,
My dashboard intermittently shows a red "Brake Lamp" warning sign, despite all brake lights working properly - none are burned out. In addition, only when the "Brake Lamp" indicator is lit, even though I maybe driving normally at 55 MPH, the back-up camera will randomly come on when I apply the brakes. After I take my foot off the brake, it goes back to the map and/or navigation screen I had been viewing.
Not sure if it's related, but my trunk won't lock or unlock with either of my remotes or driver and passenger "lock all" mechanisms. I have to manually lock the tailgate by flipping the small metal bar inside the tailgate on the interior of the vehicle to lock or unlock it.
Are any of these issues something I can easily fix, do I need to order a new part(s), or should I just accept it and cough up the money to have a dealer fix it? Thanks for your help!

Open the hatch. On the top left or top right ( can't remember what side at the moment ) corner is the rubber corrugated tube. This is the spot on the harness you are looking for. Pull back the corrugated tube and check the wireing. This is the spot were the insulation on the wires usually crackes. Sometimes there will be an intermittent short to power that turns on the camera while driving. When the wireing is damaged it is usually easy to see.
