Adding license plate mounted LED tied into reverse light

I'm looking to add a license plate mounted to add additional light for the backup camera. I'm wanting to know how to tie into reverse lights?

you'll have to pull off the license plate trim to run the wires you can run them along the same grommet used to weather seal the cable for the backup cam. Then just tape inot the two wires that turn on the reverse lights..

Note though: I did this and it added a TON of glare to the camera rendering it useless. If you do do it, make sure the LEDs are in the frame along the bottom of the plate and not on top closest to the camera.

I was the VLED LPF license plate frame.

I've noticed something about the backup lights. I've converted to brighter LED lights like many. When there is little or nothing behind you for the light to shine on, the backup lights don't seem very bright. But if there is actually something back there, it lights it up pretty good.

What kind of LEDs did you get. Mskensure they have LEDs on the side that fire into the reflector and not just straight out

That's not the confidence I want when backing up in the dark. The thud of something hitting my bumper just as it comes into camera view. A foot on the brake does a lot more than even improved reverse LED bulbs will accomplish.

you know what would be cool!?
if some one added an infrared lighting to either the camera, or upgrade the camera to one with infrared lighting. THAT would solve the problem

wait, what do home security cameras use? that's infrared right??? but it will only light up heat sources...>??

okay, probably not a good idea

While we're at it, know what else would be cool? James Bond style gadgets.

James Bond would be a 50 cal Gatling gun mounted in the back behind the power lift gate....just the thing for those annoying tailgaters.

Or a pop-up snow plow for those pesky highway protesters.

Why not both? I mean, we're James Fucking Bond, right?
And if there is front radar braking on vehicles, it's just a short step to radar guided front launch missiles
