3.2 heads on a 3.5??
Hi,
I'm not sure about this yet, but the valves on my wife's 2005 MDX 3.5 engine may have been damaged by a tooth slip of the timing belt (I get a leakdown tester today to see if that is the case). It just so happens that I recently aquired a 2003 TL - S with a good 3.2 motor in it.
What are the possibilities of putting the 3.2 heads on the 3.5 engine? Any benefits? Any downsides?
Thanks
Dan

That doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Most people will do the opposite to increase displacement, why would you do the opposite and decrease it, just go find some J35 heads from a junkyard.

Well, thanks for that I think. Now I'm all confused. I guess I have more research to do. I did a quick search and saw that some people had thoughts on that they might limit airflow, but I then thought about the fact the it WOULD add the VTECH to it.... that's a big plus!! But then one of the treads I was looking at discussed valve clearance?
I guess it's been discussed on AZ a lot so I'll look for more threads.

I believe compression was the issue... In order to bump compression to stock J32A2 standard you will have to mill the J35 Block, It will work plug and play otherwise but getting the extra compression will yield better power.

If you search ebay or car-parts.com I'm sure you could find J35A5 heads for dirt cheap or even a full motor..

The MDX does have VTEC.

OOPS Oh well, 'tis a moot point anyway. The heads / valves are fine. Might have some piston slap on cylinder #1. Just gonna keep driving it until it totally falls apart, then maybe find another engine for it.
